Also, Americo features a variety of guests and topics focusing on “life-time learning”. For viewers who are interested in education in and around Fall River, The
Americo Miranda Show is a “must see”.
The Americo Miranda Show is hosted by (no surprise!) Americo
Miranda. Americo is a proud Portuguese-American, born and educated in Fall River. Also, Bristol Community College played an important role in preparing Americo to become a teacher at Normandin Middle School in New Bedford. Americo is an active BCC alumnus and he volunteers, supporting many community organizations on the Massachusetts South
Coast. Following his education at BCC, Americo continued his studies at the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth, majoring in Political
Science. Americo acquired a B.A. Degree at UMASS in 2000, continued his education, taking Education classes in order to become “certified” to be a licensed Social Studies teacher at the Middle and High School levels. As is the case with many who attend BCC and UMASS, Americo was raising his family and working full-time while acquiring his education. Initially a substitute teacher, Americo was hired in New
Bedford as a Social Studies teacher. While teaching full-time, Americo gained his Master’s Degree in Political Science from the University of
Rhode Island. Personally and professionally, Americo understands the value of continuing education.
With his unique ability to move flawlessly from English to Portuguese,
Mr. Miranda offers one of very few programs that appeals to both the
English-speaking and Portuguese-speaking communities of Fall River.
