Lenape Middle School Math Department Algebra 1 Keystone Prep Name: _________________________ Date: __________________________ This year you will take the Algebra 1 Keystone Exam. This exam covers the content of Algebra 1, however it requires high level problem solving and multi step application problems. To review and prepare for this exam, you will be completing review assignments each week. All of the assignments shown below are available on an online program, Study Island. Each lesson must be completed with at least 70% proficiency. Grades will be based on accuracy, not completion. A calculator is allowed on all assignments. Website: www.studyisland.com (you must then click “login” in upper right-hand corner… and make sure you select the “schools” option) Username: FirstnameLastname.cbsd Example: JohnSmith.cbsd Password: 1234 – You will be prompted to change it after your first login, choose wisely! (You are responsible for your password!) Suggestions for Success: Assignments are opened each Thursday. You will have until the end of the day on the following Wednesday to complete the assignment. All questions are randomized. Complete problems in each topic in sets of 10. If you earn less than 7/10 on your first try, begin a new session. Continue to work on sessions of 10 problems until you earn at least a 7/10. Your “best” score out of 10 will be your grade for each assignment and will count towards your overall grade. Some Assignments have two separate “topics” to complete. Each topic will be graded out of 10 points each (on accuracy). Use the Study Island lesson plans. If you find that you are consistently getting problems wrong, view the lesson that is associated. This may help you to understand your error and complete the task. It may be a good idea to view it prior to the assignment. Show your work. Although these problems are completed on the computer, you will need scrap paper to work out problems. If you are really stuck on a problem, bring that problem to class for review on Thursday or e-mail your teacher the question or take a picture on your phone. Just because its multiple choice, doesn’t mean show zero work! Use test-taking strategies. You may find that using test-taking strategies will be very beneficial. One of the best strategies is to cross off the wrong answers before you pick the correct one. Almost always, two of the answers will cancel out immediately giving you a good chance to get the problem correct. On Thursday’s, we will have short time at the beginning of class to review questions. All questions should be e-mailed or printed since each student’s assignment is different. Use the back of this sheet to track and organize your progress. If you are unable to have computer access, get a resource pass to the Library or a computer lab prior to the due date.
