Case #101

A Sick Hero

A typical day in the summer, a well known hero came back from a tiring day of work fighting the bad guys. He was more fatigued than usual from the long day and sauntered into his lab. He saw his pale face in a mirror hanging on the wall and fell back in shock!

Where had the once handsome young man gone? He decided it must be from the lack of food, he had indeed turned into a vegetarian for his love of animals, but he didn’t think it would have this big of an effect. He went into his kitchen and looked around as to what he could fulfill his hunger. Thats when he spot it, a plant. It was sitting by the window, a normal pot of dirt with a few flowers. Weirdly enough he was craving the dirt. Yes, the dirt of all things. To him it looked like crumbled up chocolate cake, and considering he wanted something sweet, he decided to try it out. He took out a big spoon and scooped some onto it and ate it all. His automatic reaction was to spit it out, and grab a glass of water, however he strangely wanted more. It didn’t taste good, but he ate more. Once he finished devouring the poor soil, the flowers were left on the counter as if forgotten in a war. He decided he should relax on the couch and watch some TV. When he got there he was strangely out of breath. He couldn’t be out of shape! He is a superhero! He fights bad guys all the time and doesn't have time to be unhealthy. But then why does it feel like he just defeated 50 enemies? He plopped on to the couch and turned on the TV. His head spinned as an annoying commercial came on for some product that would in no way make his life better.

His legs started to tingle then. It started from his toes and went up his leg. What is this madness!!! Its not as if he was standing on them all day. Just then he felt his tongue swell up. He panicked thinking it might of been from the soil he decided to eat earlier. He panicked and rushed to call his trusty doctor. He called him up and told him about everything that happened. What did the doctor tell him?

Jake and Cross-Country

My friend Jake and I were cross-country runners for our High School.

Jake was a great runner and always put in all his effort when it came to running. During practice I came to notice that Jake has been changing and acting weird lately. Jake hasn’t been running the same as he used to, he looks depressed, his effort and running times have gone down.

Also he has been complaining about a bad pain in his back and bone aches. Another thing I noticed with Jake is he has been asking a lot of the same questions lately like he doesn’t remember too much and is always forgetting something. During practice that day right before track ended Jake fell to the ground in pain and screaming. He was in severe pain from his back. He was yelling “its broken” . Coaches ran over and immediately called an ambulance and he was rushed to the hospital.

Soon to find out that Jake had fractured his spine because of muscles being fragile.

When he went up to present, his legs felt very weak, him feeling bad mixed with the presentation also made him feel nauseous. When he started speaking he felt very dizzy and almost fell over but kept going on with his presentation. About one minute into his presentation Drew stopped quickly, looked his teacher straight in the eye and threw up on her computer. Instead of running out of the room, Drew decided to go on with the presentation. Drew, with vom still coming out of him, explained the black plague to the class thoroughly and in as much detail as possible and it took him thirty minutes to finish. Drew then sat down in his seat after he presented and the class sat in silence for the remainder of the hour class period.
