This is a no huddle offense, all plays will come from the sideline on whiteboard the middle number is the play we will be using that is on the arm band of the QB. Example the whiteboard says 145 he looks at his arm band for the number 4 play B. As soon as the ref picks up the ball from the previous play everyone has to be on the line and looking to the sideline. This offense should be able to get off a play in less then 10 sec C. C. Our goal is wear out the defense with running and passing plays equally, but giving them no chance to sub out. Are goal is for 60 offensive plays per game. D. We shall dominate the defense and not the other way around. E. We will be disciplined as a team and work as one unit. F. We will be mentally and physically prepared for each and every practice and game. G. As coaches we will have you ready for each and every game and as players you will be prepared to give us 110 percent every practice and every game. H. Score as many points as possible and have fun enjoying your passion! Rules 1. Respect your team mates and coaches 2. There will be will be consequences if you miss practice or a game unless you have a viable excuse for doing so. 3. If you miss practice it not only hurts you in learning the system and sets you behind, but it also affects your team mates as well. If you cant be counted on for practice how can you be counted on in a game? 4. Respect your team mates no fighting or bickering will be tolerated. First offense you will asked to leave the practice field or the game. 5. Respect the referees and our competition both the players and coaches. 6. All players that receive this playbook don’t use it as dust cover read it, learn it, memorize it! 7. Respect our fans and show them that you care about them as they show for you in supporting the team. 8. Be a good team mate both on the field and off. How you represent yourself on the field and off represents the team as well. 9. Under no circumstance will you confront a coach! You will be respectful and talk with that coach after the play and If you cant find a good answer then you will bring it to my attention. The same goes for coaches as well they will be respectful to you and if they have a problem they will come to me. 10. Lets enjoy a game that has brought so much fun in our lives and have a deep passion for! QB Pre Snap Alignment • QB Aligns at 4.5 yards from the center • Feet are slightly staggered with throwing foot slightly in front • Hands are comfortable, with fingers spread • QB brings the snap through the third hand • QB Snaps Eyes to Read Running Back Alignment • RB Lines Up 1Yard Behind QB, With his crotch splitting the OS leg of the guards in the King and Queen alignment. • His eyes are straight ahead. • He is balanced, with his hands on his hips • If his hands go to his knees, he goes to the bench pattern • We have some flexibility to his alignment Snap of the ball will be a hand clap! Why are we doing a hand clap for the snap? By doing this we eliminate false starts and everyone can concentrate on the job they are to do. No more looking in at the ball that can cause false starts by anticipating the count and no more false steps from the LOS and lost time for WR to get off of the LOS. Also the only time you will hear words from the QB is when he audible’s then he will holler out either a State, which means a run audible is coming, or he will holler out a City alerting you to a pass audible. Example: we called a Pistol King 26 power, but the QB sees that they have stacked the outside and left the middle open his audible will be Delaware 1 which means that the play is a dive play in the 1 hole which is to the left of the center instead of a power run. If he called out San Diego that means all receivers are going to run slants and that it is hot pass. Also the center will now holler out the new blocking scheme. This is going to eliminate plays that cant be productive because the defense is stacked to where the play is going and it also goes back to our philosophy that we are going to dominate the defense and not the other way around! Audibles Are audibles will be using cities and can be called out of any formation. We will be using 3 passing plays and 4 runs to give us versatility against any front the defense shows us. The following slides show the audibles being called out of the Twins formation. All of these audibles can be called out of any formation at any given time. You will here following sequence when an Audible is called and may sound something like this. Check Check Carson Carson 33 33 that lets everyone know that now we are going with all curl routes and the blocking assignment is the Ocean blocking scheme The run audibles will be using States and military alphabet for the direction Oklahoma – Sweep Outside South Dakota - Strong South Carolina – Slam Delaware – Dive Romeo – Right Lima – Left Carson -5-6 yard curl routes San Diego – Slants Houston – hitch routes 5 -4 come back to the QB Buffalo – Very special Audible because if the CB is sitting way off our receivers then the QB will have the option to call this on his own on a signal from the sideline alerting him to the call. This is a quick bubble screen to the X H Y or Z receivers depending on the formation. Play Calling The players need to read the middle numbers and then look on the wristband to find the play. DOES can print any numbers they want around the actual numbers that we will be using. Below is an example of the play call with the middle number being the play call for both the skill and the O line that will be on their wristbands. R6807 OU547 We always start out in our Pistol formation. WR will always be 1-2 yards off the LOS unless the formation calls for otherwise. We are going to show you how we want you set up and once you are setup this way you will not leave that stance unless a coach tells you to line up differently. We doing zone blocking and that means that we will dictate to the defense where we are attacking and how we are attacking. You Hawgs are my Road graders making a road for my R back and QB! Even when pass defending we will be using the same stance. Here is an example of zone passing scheme. Defining Zones Defining Inside and Outside Zones Dealing With Stunts F C R W E M T S T C E • When the defensive line stunts, our lineman must understand their first responsibility is playside gap • They must have their heads up and eyes open • TB and QB Utilize Backside Mesh Footwork Handling Stunts B B L E This is a two-on-two drill working two offensive lineman vs. a defensive lineman and a backer. This is a generic drill where we will put guards with tackles and centers with guards. We want this to be a game speed drill once the initial teaching is done. You must work against twists and loops B T T E This is our three on three drill we do a lot because of stacked fronts. We get head up tackles that will slant. We work this drill with the frontside, then the backside. We get our eyes up and this teaches the everyone to be able to work an inside threat. We teach patience in this drill and we follow a very strict rule, “Don’t Chase Backers.” Our HIPPO Concept • We also use zone combinations with our lineman getting hip to hip • Offensive Linemen will drive the defensive lineman into the linebacker • The direction the linebacker goes will determine which lineman accounts for the backer • Our landmark is the near ear/near number of the down defender • We teach the offensive lineman to get four eyes to backer Teaching a Near Ear Vertical Push • Offensive lineman will take a flat step to the near number • On the flat step the offensive lineman will cock their hands • The second step is a vertical step and punch the near number of the down defender • We call this Flat Step, L Step • We drive the down guy into the linebacker • We DO NOT chase backers Near Ear Vertical Push (Take/Overtake) B B T G T T The linebacker attacks the guard’s gap, so the guard takes the backer and the tackle overtakes the down defender. G T The linebacker attacks the tackle’s gap, so the tackle takes the backer and the guard overtakes the down defender. Twins Queen Counter Read R W E M T S T E Vs a 3-5 to the call side we will kick out the 5 tech with the BSG, and the BST will lead through. We assign two players to the PSLB. Our FSG takes the blitz away and the Y inside releases and looks to seal the Mac. The PSG will NOT chase the Mac. We can also have # 2 block the OSLB and have the pull lead through account for Mac to FS In this case it is a 4 man Odd front with the LBs leaning to the Strong side. Also note that the CB are playing off the WRs in this case a bubble screen or quick out pass should be called. Also shifting the H and Y out into the slots will cause confusion watch how the defense reacts. H 5-7 yards from sideline X 5-6 yards from tackle L T L G 2yds. Run Terminology Sweeps are always to the outside of the formation this would be the 7th gap and the 8th gap Power is always between the 5th and 6th gap. Slam is between the 3rd and 4th Gap and Dive is the 1 and 2 gaps and is always between the guards. The biggest example of this is that the Offensive Line must know the formation of the WR to understand their blocking assignments. Only X or Y will receive the ball on a Jailbreak Screen. The playcall will take the form of: Twins Left – X Jailbreak or Twins right ZJailbreak Designated WR (#1) – You take one large drive step upfield from the snap, two small steps to gather yourself and then come straight back to the QB. You must catch the ball behind the line of scrimmage Non-designated playside WR (if applicable) – You will always block the DB over the designated WR straight from the snap Non-designated backside WR – You will always block the DB over you. Playside Tackle (PT) – You will always pass block the pass rushing defender with outside contain. Ideally you should cut block him to get his hands down, or wash him around the corner to create a throwing lane. Nearest player to #1 on the LOS, not the PT (#2) - You will release straight from the snap towards your designated target. This will be the first unblocked DB. OL (not PT or #2) - You will always aggressively pass block the DL (and blitzers) for a 1 count. You will then release upfield and block the first person you can find who is otherwise unblocked. Backside RB – You will always pass block the first threat from the QB’s blindside Playside RB (if applicable) – You will always aggressively pass block the gap left by the playside Pistol PAP 6048 Formation is Pistol Queen Left X runs a 10 yd. in route Z runs 10 yd Curl H runs crossing route Y runs a post R can either stay in or be release valve to the left flat Pass protection is 73 RH H X L T L G C R G R T Y Z 4.5 – 5 yards Q B R Pistol PAP 6448 Formation is Pistol Queen Left X runs a 10 yd. in route Z runs 10 yd Curl H runs crossing route Y runs a post R can either stay in or be release valve to the left flat Pass protection is 73 RH H X L T L G C R G R T Y Z 4.5 – 5 yards Q B R Formation is Pistol Queen Left 2.
