Rules for U6 Recreation Soccer
 Size 3 ball
 4 v 4, No goalkeeper.
 Four equal 10-minute quarters with 2-minute water break between quarters and a
5-minute halftime interval.
 The ball is “thrown in” with a kick in from the sideline.
 No offsides.
 Limited fouls called, awarding free kicks.
 Players must stand 4 yards away from kick ins.
 Most important rule coaches stay on the sideline, Let the kids play!
 Parents remain on the touchline opposite the players, 1 yard back from the field.
Rules for U8 Recreation Soccer
 Size 3 ball.
 6 v 6, one of whom is goalkeeper.
 Two equal halves of 20 minutes. Halftime interval of 5 minutes
 Throw ins allowed. If throw in is a foul, player may retake one (1) time.
 All free kicks are direct kicks
 Goal kicks taken from goal box.
 No offsides.
 Limited fouls called, awarding free kicks.
 Players must stand 5 yards away from placed kicks.
 Most important rule coaches stay on the sideline, Let the kids play!
 Parents remain on the touchline opposite the players, 1 yard back from the field.
Rules for U10 Recreation Soccer
 Size 4 ball.
 6 v 6, one of whom is a goalkeeper. Teams may play up to 7 v 7 if agreed between
coaches.
 Two equal halves of 22 minutes. Halftime interval of 5 minutes.
 Scoring, conform to FIFA
 No offsides
 Free kicks, conform to FIFA, exception being 8 yard rule.
 Penalty kick is 8 yards from the midpoint between goalposts.
 Throw in, conform to FIFA.
 Goal kick, conform to FIFA.
 Corner kick, conform to FIFA, exception being opponents remain 8 yards off the
ball.
 Parents must remain on the touchline opposite the players, 1 yard back from the
field.
