College & Class Policies
Attendance:
Due to the communicative nature of this course absences are discouraged. Each absence will
have as a consequence points deducted from your final grade. If the student plans to miss class
she/he must notify de instructor in advance to determine how missed work (exams) may be
completed. In the event of an unforeseeable absence (i.e. medical emergency, etc.) please notify
the instructor as soon as possible. Documents will be required. Any student with three (3)
consecutive absences (or five [5] absences total) may receive a grade of “F” in the course
Make-Up Work:
Quizzes (“Exams”):
You may not miss any test or exams if you want to receive credits for this course. Make-up exams are
given only if you call the instructor or send her an e-mail on the day the exam is scheduled in order to
arrange for a make-up exam to be taken within 3 days. If you fail to call before or the day of the exam

Cuaderno Homework:
Late homework submissions are discouraged and will not be accepted for a grade. The purpose of the
homework is to improve Spanish language skills and thereby to prepare the student for frequent quizzes
(“exams”) and final exam; to complete and turn them in after the fact defeats their purpose. Students may
work ahead with the homework, but may not work behind and receive points. See page 6 of the syllabus
for a list of due dates and pages 6-7 for homework instructions.
Grading:
Quizzes will be given on a regular basis and the final exam will be cumulative. All course work grades will be
averaged to obtain the semester grade. Incomplete grades are given only in emergency situations, not for
routine failure to complete the requirements of the course. The circumstance must be as a result of documented
unforeseen events. The following values will be given to course work (there is NO curve):
