First Grade News Please note: The spelling test will be on Thursday due to the field trip on Friday. Remember to do practice spelling test on Wednesday instead of sentences. Saint Reports are due October 28th! Field Trip Information: Our field trip to Chesterfield Berry Farm is Friday, October 25. Students will arrive to school at the regular time. We will meet parent chaperones at the ECDC entrance at 8:15. By law, all children need a car seat or booster! Please remember to label your carseat and leave it with your child at dropoff if you are not accompanying us on the trip. Chaperones will receive their children and then proceed directly to the Chesterfield Berry Farm. Please do not stop on the way to or from the destination. Students will have no homework on Thursday night and should leave their backpacks at home on Friday, only bring a lunch and a disposible bottle of water (NO SODAS) in a disposible bag. Make sure your child has a substantial breakfast as we will not have our regular snack in the morning. Students may wear jeans and sneakers with the St. Mary’s sweatshirt. Please remember that the pumpkin patch can be muddy! You will not want your child wearing dress clothes. Reminder: Please NO SIBLINGS on the field trip! Please note the following calendar changes: Due to a Diocesan Priest Convocation, we will not have Mass this Wednesday, October 23. Wednesday, October 30 will follow Friday’s schedule. Friday, November 1st students will attend 9:00 Mass in honor of All Saints Day. Mrs. Mickle’s class will need PE uniforms because we are following Wednesday’s schedule! The Book Fair Needs YOU! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Saint Mary's School on November 11. The Book Fair will run from November 11-14. Also, help is needed with the book fair. First Grade News St. Mary’s Marketplace The Annual St. Mary’s Marketplace is October 24th at 6:00 in the Upper Commons. Please support this fun PTO event and buy shopping with the vendors that attend. It is a great opportunity to get your Christmas shopping done early!! See the school calendar for more details. It must be something simple that students can easily put on over their uniform without help. At 10:30 we will process over to St. Mary’s Woods to visit the residents. It is a great opportunity to serve others and learn about a saint that is special to us! PE Reminders – Sweat Pants: As it gets colder, we would like to remind you that only uniform sweat pants with St. Mary’s printed on them are allowed to be worn. They can be purchased at Flynn & O’Hara Uniforms store or online. If your child is cold, they need to wear the St. Mary’s sweatshirt. Other items are not permitted under the uniform (tights, leggings, or long sleeve shirts, etc.) Flash Cards: Students should review nightly using their flash cards.
