AP English Language and Comp Non-fiction Essay Assignment - MODES Sandt 2014 In order to increase your reading comprehension, analytical, and public speaking skills, you will each be doing an oral presentation to the class in which you are the expert on a given text that I assign. Each week, the class will be assigned an essay to read, which falls in a particular category/mode of discourse. Every student is expected to read and annotate the text (for evidence of the mode). Presentations will take place on a day that you sign up for within the 1st or 2nd marking period. Each student will be responsible for doing the following as part of his/her presentation: ● Conduct a close analysis of the text via annotations, which you will submit to me as evidence of your analysis. This is worth 10 points. ● Create a 10-point AP style quiz for the class to take after your presentation. This will count as a grade for the class. It will also count as a 10 point grade for you. ● Lesson: As part of your lesson, create a Keynote/Prezi/iMovie/Comic Life for the class, which you will use to help guide them through your thorough analysis of the text. 10 points You will be the teacher in the class on this day. You will be expected to field all questions pertaining to your text and explain yourself at any point during the lesson. Your lesson should last between 15 and 20 minutes.
