Event Goals
The Bay Honors Consortium invites community college honors faculty to the beautiful Mills College campus for a
day focused on honors education. This first-ever Honors Faculty Roundtable has four goals:

educating highly motivated students;
 To give honors faculty specific tools and ideas they can use in their next honors
course, contract, colloquia or student interaction;
 To promote collegial dialogue among honors faculty in similar disciplines from a
wide range of colleges; and

Creating Student Scholars: Honors Mentoring Case Studies
Moderator: Jennifer Saito, Los Medanos College
Academically mentoring exceptionally gifted and motivated honors students can be a transformative experience not
only for them, but for the professor they select as a mentor. Honors work at a community college is often the spark
that inspires students to become scholars and pursue graduate degrees. This panel features teams of students and
professors who worked together on successful honors projects, several of which were presented at the UC Berkeley and
Stanford Honors Research Symposium.
