Speech Brief Persuasive Speech Quick Checklist / Reminders! Here’s a quick checklist of the requirements for this speech: It is a PERSUASIVE SPEECH. You are not just informing us about your topic, but persuading us to take a side or take action. You goal is to make the audience: Think, Feel, Believe, or Act on something. Topic choices are: 1. Is society too lenient on cheaters? 2. Should parents limit the amount of time their children spend using technology? 3. Is it fair that school officials conduct bookbag and locker searches? 4. Your Job choice: Example: Medical job: Are we an over-medicated society? 5. Your Education Example: Open lunch, school uniforms, block schedule vs all classes everyday Time limit – 2 - 4 minutes. Must use AT LEAST ONE SOURCE DURING YOUR SPEECH. (“According to….” “as stated in…” “such and such reports that…” NO OUTLINE IS REQUIRED. HOWEVER – you must have: Introduction (Attention getting with a preview statement) Body Conclusion YOU MAY ONLY USE UP TO TWO NOTECARDS IN DELIVERING THIS SPEECH. Friday, April 19 – finish demonstration speeches, begin work on Persuasive Speeches. Monday, April 22 – Workday for Persuasive Speeches. – Topics due. Wednesday, April 24 – Workday for Persuasive Speeches. Friday, April 26 – Final workday for Persuasive Speeches Monday, April 29 – PERSUASIVE SPEECHES DUE! I’ll take volunteers – then we’ll draw numbers to determine speaker order. Wednesday, May 1 – Continue speeches. Friday, May 3 – Continue speeches – work on final speech. Monday, May 6 – Workday for final speech – “Hero” speech. Wednesday, May 8 – Workday for final speech – “Hero” speech. Friday, May 10 – optional speaking day - FINAL SPEECHES - “Hero” speech.
