Stasi documents suggest IKEA used GDR prisoners as slave labour
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/sweden/8742172/Ikea-used-political-prisoners-in-GDR-as-slavelabour.html
Swedish retail firm Ikea used political prisoners in East Germany to make furniture, according to Stasi documents
recently unearthed according to the Daily Telegraph. Ikea founder Ingvar Kamprad said that he had no knowledge of
any use of prison labour in the then GDR, but if it had taken place he believed that it was in society's interests. This
contrasted with an official Ikea statement that said that it regretted the incident if it had occurred.
China: Attack on Cisco over human rights intensifies
http://www.hrlf.net/announcements.html
US group the Human Rights Law Foundation has alleged that Cisco tailored its technology specifically to enable its use
in human rights abuses. The company has always said that it sold its technology as standard, and could not be held
accountable for what the Chinese authorities went on to do with it. According to the foundation, Cisco CEO John
Chambers met a number of times with Jiang Zemin, who was responsible for the programme targeting members of
Falun Gong. This assertion, along with the content of a leaded Cisco presentation from 2002 alluding to how Cisco's
technology could support China's goals of 'maintaining stability', has been held by the Foundation as showing that
Cisco actively colluded in human rights abuses.

France: EDF fined for illegal spying on anti-nuclear campaign (Business ethics on finding out information on your
competition)
http://www.businessrespect.net/page.php?Story_ID=2711
A French court has found EDF and Kargus, the security firm it employed to carry out the work, guilty of spying on
Greenpeace anti-nuclear campaigners. Activities included hacking computers owned by the group. EDF said that it had
employed Kargus to monitor the group but that the company had exceeded its brief. It has said that it intends to
appeal the verdict. The court fined EDF 1.5 million euros and ordered it to pay compensation to Greenpeace. Two
EDF employees, Pascal Durieu and Pierre-Paul Francois, heads of the company's nuclear security, were given jail
sentences for their part in commissioning the spying. Two employees from Kargus were also jailed.
