Child 6 years old 220.00 TOTAL 1,960.00 If the income of the household is lower, the applicant is eligible to receive zakat assistance 10 MONTHLY MONETARY AID Gives out cash assistance in the amount between RM250 to RM500 per month After the end of one year, the status of the recipient is investigated Those who receive this assistance also qualify for other forms of assistance 2013: RM72.32 mil spent to 20,050 recipients (head of family) 11 HOUSE RENTAL ASSISTANCE MAIWP to cover s the cost of house rental at RM94 to RM400 per month Despite the relatively low cost of rental, the cost of living in the city is otherwise high and burdensome, especially on those whose dependents are many 2013: RM3.61 mil spent to 2,273 recepients 12 HOUSE BUILDING/ REPAIR ASSISTANCE MAIWP helps the destitute build houses on their land or repair their dilapidated houses Allows them to enjoy a better quality of life as well as enabling them to own a valuable asset for their families 2013: RM0.86 mil spent to 56 recepients 13 BUSINESS ASSISTANCE Provides financial aid to those who have started their own business on a small scale Traders who are given assistance are those who are in the retail, food, restaurant, tailoring, workshop, and craft businesses Given to recipients in the category of the destitute, the needy, and converts Given either in the form of additional capital or business equipment 14 BUSINESS ASSISTANCE MAIWP organises entrepreneurship courses that expose the recipients to the fundamentals of business and financial management. It is compulsory for all eligible recipients before they receive financial aid. 2013: RM4.3 mil spent to 881 recipients 15 TAXI HIRE PURCHASE DEPOSIT ASSISTANCE MAIWP extends an aid of RM5,000 as deposit to buy a taxi By owning the vehicle, they no longer have to pay rent to taxi operators 2013: RM1.39 mil awarded to 287 taxi drivers 16 GENERAL SCHOOLING AID Students at the primary and secondary school ( 7 -18 years) receive the General Schooling Aid Amount of Assistance : Primary School: RM420- RM540 Secondary School: RM600- RM1,200 Channelled to the students through the teachers-in-charge of a school 2013: RM13.11 mil were given to 21,397 students 17 SCHOOLING EQUIPMENT AID MAIWP provides Schooling Equipment Aid to reduce the burden on parents Students will receive two sets of school uniform, a set of sports clothing, a school bag, and stationery worth RM220 to RM250 2013: RM4.46 mil spent to 20,173 students 18 INSTITUTE OF HIGHER LEARNING (IHL) GENERAL EDUCATIONAL AID IHL General Educational Aid provides: •Certificate- RM1,500 •Diploma - RM3,000 •Bachelor’s Degree (Local) RM4,000 •PhD, Master’s Degre & Bachelor’s Degree (Studying Abroad ) - RM5,000 2013: RM17.82 mil channelled to 6,492 students 19 MAIWP BAITULMAL SCHOLARSHIP Offers sponsorship to outstanding students. Through this assistance, the cost of education, accommodation, and living allowance for each student will be borne by MAIWP Since 2007, MAIWP has sponsored a total of 142 students studying in universities locally and abroad. The total amount of scholarship disbursed by MAIWP from 2007 to 2013 is RM24.03 million. 20 MAIWP’S BAITULMAL ZAKAT RECIPIENT IDENTIFICATION SQUAD This squad plays down the field to across Federal Territory to find the recipients who drop out of receiving alms Since its launch in 2012, a total of 1,063 eligible zakat recipients have been successfully identified 21 EDUCATION 22 ISLAMIC KINDERGARTEN MAIWP’s Islamic kindergartens provide early childhood education to children aged 5 to 6 years Currently, there are about 80 Islamic kindergartens with 5,697 pelajar 2013 Expenditure: RM2.31 mil 23 MAIWP RELIGIOUS SECONDARY SCHOOL Established in 2007 at Kuala Lumpur and at Labuan in 2011 to meet the need of religious education at the secondary school level Management and development cost of SMA- MAIWP is borne fully by MAIWP using the zakat fund 2013 allocation: RM6.33 mil for the management and operation of SMA- MAIWP 24 TAHFIZ SCIENCE INTEGRATED SECONDARY SCHOOL (SMISTA) SMISTA was established in January 2011 Combines national curriculum and the Al-Quran-based religious curriculum. In addition, the students will also be exposed to learning science and technology. 2013 Expenditure: RM0.86 mil 25 BAITULMAL SKILLS INSTITUTE (IKB) IKB was established to help eradicate poverty among Muslim families in the Federal Territories and Malaysia Provides free skills training courses at the certificate level, which is recognised by Government bodies to the children of eligible zakat recipients Trainess will receive a monthly allowance, learning materials, accommodation, and etc 26 BAITULMAL SKILLS INSTITUTE (IKB) Courses: 1. Fashion Design and Tailoring; 2. Art and Design; 3. Food Service and Catering; 4. Electrical Engineering; and 5. Building Technology. 2013 Expenditure: RM2.78 mil Since its inception in 1992 until now, the IKB has trained 2,024 trainees 27 BAITULMAL PROFESSIONAL INSTITUTE (IPB) Baitulmal Professional Institute or known as IPB is a Private Higher Education Institution (PHEI) established by MAIWP in 1992 with the aim of producing professional Muslims Offers professional certification and courses from certificate to degree level in business, accounting, and computer science Since its inception in 1992, the IPB has produced 6,517 graduates MAIWP spent RM11.44 million to 2,576 students in 2013 through IPB Student Assistance Scheme 28 PUSRAWI INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (PICOMS) Established in 2003 Offers diploma courses in nursing and medical sciences Since its inception in 2003, PICOMS has produced 522 graduates MAIWP spent RM5.46 million to 1,992 students in 2013 through PICOMS Student Assistance Scheme 29 DAR ASSAKINAH Dar Assakinah is a religious education centre for senior citizens aged 55 years and above Adopts the concept of pondok style Islamic studies, which provides accommodation and subsistence The activities carried out at the Dar Assakinah include congregational prayers, daily morning lectures, Talaqqi Al-Quran, Tahsinul Al-Quran, and studying old scriptures Operates in a bungalow located on a piece of land donated by Tuan Haji Ir. Mohd Mazlan bin Md Ismail 30 PROTECTION AND WELFARE 31 DARUL KIFAYAH Darul Kifayah is a shelter home for children who are eligible to receive the zakat, including orphans Children from destitute and needy families as well as converts are accepted in the Darul Kifayah and provided the necessary education by MAIWP 2013: Darul Kifayah placed a total of 318 students with the total expenditure of RM2.11 million for operating and managing the Darul Kifayah 32 DAR ASSAADAH Provides temporary asylum, religious and moral guidance, and vocational skills training to girls and women in the age group between 18-35 years, who suffer from social ills and out-ofwedlock pregnancies 2013: Dar Assaadah placed a total of 64 residents The management and operation of the Dar Assaadah is funded by the Government at a cost of RM0.98 million in 2013 33 DARUL HIDAYAH Darul Hidayah offers shelter to new converts Provides religious classes and protection to those who are shunned for converting to Islam MAIWP is currently developing a complex at a cost of RM19.79 million, which will offer a more comfortable place 34 PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT 35 WAQF IMARAH Built in Jalan Perak on the 1.21 acres waqf land It is Malaysia's first waqf land which is being developed as a commercial project The land was donated by the late Ahmad Dawjee Dadabhoy from India in its development, the land was used as a car park. The value of the real estate has increased from RM34 million before development in 2007 to RM151 million after its development in 2011 The development of the land is the result of a smart partnership between MAIWP, Lembaga Tabung Haji as the developer offering 100% financing for the development of the waqf land, and Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad as the anchor tenant. 36 MAIWP CORPORATE WAQF MAIWP launched the MAIWP corporate waqf to give a new impetus to the implementation of religious endowment The corporate waqf makes it easy for Muslims to make waqf contributions An endowment fund can also be generated, developed and returned to the community through charitable projects that will benefit the community 37 PUSRAWI HOSPITAL Project which comprises PUSRAWI Hospital and KL Putra Hotel was completed in late 2005 at a construction cost of RM100 million The construction fulfils the obligation of fardhu kifayah, and provides an Islamicbased alternative treatment for Muslims The PUSRAWI Hospital is a 9-storey building whereas the KL Putra Hotel is 11storey building 38 STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP UNDER THE BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY The Malaysian Government has been promoting cooperation under the Blue Ocean Strategy as a way to provide low-cost, high-impact, and fast delivery of service to the people. MAIWP is also involved in this endeavour, which saw its collaboration with several Government and private agencies 39 MAIWP People’s Store • Established on 28th October 2011 in Precint 5, Putrajaya • Ease the burden of low income earners by offering basic goods at cheaper prices • Collaboration between MAIWP, Prime Minister’s Department and Mydin Holdings 40 MAIWP -Putrajaya Hospital 1Malaysia Low Risk Maternity Centre • Collaboration between MAIWP, Putrajaya Hospital, Ministry of Health Malaysia and Prime Minister’s Department • MAIWP has granted a total of RM3.27 million to Putrajaya Hospital to convert apartments into a maternity centre • This collaborative effort ensures that a maternity centre will be opened within 3 months compared to two years, which is the time it will take to construct a new building. This centre will resolve the problem of space facing the maternity ward at Putrajaya Hospital 41 MAIWP -Selayang Hospital Cataract Surgery Centre • Collaboration between MAIWP, Selayang Hospital and Ministry of Health Malaysia • MAIWP has approved the allocation of zakat amounting to RM9.8 million for the purchase of buildings, renovation of buildings, and purchase of surgical equipment • The Selayang Hospital and the Ministry of Health will provide the manpower and expertise to operate the centre • This establishment of the centre will allow the waiting time for surgery to be reduced from 4 weeks to 2 weeks. 42 TAQWA FOUNDATION 43 • Established by MAIWP in 1990 to distribute the charity fund in another states in Malaysia outside the Federal Territory and also to another countries • Taqwa Foundation activities consist of da’wah, education and charity/ emergency. • Among the aids/assistances: -Schooling Equipments - Disasters - Medical - Missionary activities with NGO TAQWA FOUNDATION NUM CONTRIBUTION TO CAMBODIA AMOUNT (RM) 1.
