COURSE DESCRIPTION: This survey course covers the source of the law and courts and introduces
tort law along with the historical, economic, political, and ethical bases of contracts and property
ownership. This course includes ethical considerations in business and the impact of regulatory and
administrative law on business.
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES: The student will be have an overview of judicial and statutory
regulation of the business environment.
REQUIRED COURSE TEXTBOOK: Business Law, with UCC Applications, 13th edition, Gordon W.
Brown and Paul A. Sukys, McGraw-Hill Irwin, 2013

MAKEUP EXAMS: Makeup exams will not be permitted. If an exam is missed, the weight of that exam
will be placed on the final exam. The final exam will be comprehensive.
POLICY ON SCHOLASTIC DISHONESTY: The integrity of a university degree depends on the

Procedure, Part 5, Section 1, and the Student Guide.

respect for the right of others at all times. Behavioral disruptions that interfere with the business of the
classroom or with an individual’s learning ability may be referred to the Vice President of Student
Services for resolution.
