Receiver Requirements
• Shortest TTFF
– Customers do not care about channels, correlators, Ephemeris (extended or
not) – they want a fix NOW
• Highest sensitivity
– Fix under all conditions – no worries about an antenna
• Lowest Power consumption
– We mainly address telematics applications – but even here for asset tracking
this is the second priority – certainly this is very often a combination with
short TTFF
• Jamming recognition, mitigation, removal
– Especially automotive telematics suppliers ask for that – it is already normal
in GSM products
• Galileo support
– Not a big issue today, but especially in Europe, customers are asking

SiRFawareTM
- Basics
PRELIMINARY
 Q: What is SiRFawareTM good for?
 A: SiRFawareTM keeps the module in a state of readiness for rapid
navigation for long periods!
 Q: When and how can I start using SiRFawareTM?
 A: SiRFawareTM mode can be entered after an initial position
calculation by software command!
 Q: How is SiRFawareTM able to accomplish this?
 A: SiRFawareTM will try to maintain position, time, frequency, and
Ephemeris!
 Q: Can I further improve SiRFawareTM?
 A: SiRFawareTM can even be combined with Extended Ephemeris
methods!

– Power
PRELIMINARY
• Data Collection (re-load of Ephemeris)
–
–
–
–
Every 30 minutes for ~ 18s @ 40mA
Calc. average: 40mA x 18s / (30 x 60s) = 400µA
Targeted average: < 500µA
Results so far: ~ 300µA
• Capture / Update (time, frequency, ... maintenance)
–
–
–
–
14-Mar-16
Every minute for ~ 250ms @ 30mA (worst case)
Calc. average: 30mA x 250ms x 30 / (30 x 60s) = 125µA
Targeted average: < 500µA
Results so far: < 300µA

Implementation
PRELIMINARY
• Vcc should be always ON!
• Toggle ON_OFF from LOW to HIGH to wake up after power on….
• Use software command to initiate and get back from SiRFawareTM
and other low power modes…
• Necessary configuration for UART mode:
Major difference
towards A1084-B!
Necessary to enable
UART mode!
ON_OFF pin
must be connected!
Necessary to wake
up module – even
after power off/on!

Summary / Feedback
• Keep in mind
– We are an early adopter, so there might still be a change
in design between the samples and production modules
– Many features will be enabled with new firmware updates
– Documentation is not perfect yet and CSR will release its
documentation in March only - but we can start!
• Further information to follow shortly
• Your feedback is appreciated
• Thanks!
