Learning Styles – What Do With?

Presentation Development

Using Google Drive to do a Google Slide Presentation is most highly recommended! Google Docs is an option if you choose.

Follow the directions provided. Your end product may be counted as a Formal grade or informal – I have not decided. Many will likely end up on the bulletin board outside the room. Some inside the room. Some will be presented.

Ensure this product has a consistent and professional appearance.

You are expected to provide some information “in your own words.” Make sure this is in your own words and double check it with a classmate to be sure it is well written.

There are 9 steps, so that is 11 points per step when each is well done.

NOTE: You will have 6 slides:

1 cover page slide (done at the end). Step 8

1 slide with the print screen/paste of you learning style results. Steps 1 & 2

3 slides of your top 3 learning styles, the copy and paste info and the summaries. Steps 3-7

1 “last page” summary slide. Step 9

STEP 1. Edutopia Multiple Intelligences Self-Assessment

Go to: http://www.edutopia.org/multiple-intelligences-assessment

Take the 24 question assessment. This asks 24 questions and will take less than five minutes to complete. Try not to think too hard -- just go with your first thought when describing your daily activities and interests. By the end, you may have some new insights into the way you think.

STEP 2. Do a “print screen” of your results and paste in your Google Slide.

Print Screen – This takes a picture of whatever is on your screen. On your keyboard, hold down control key (lower left on keyboard) then press print screen key (top right on keyboard). Go to Google Drive, Google Slide, point at slide, right click mouse, left click Paste option. Cright click mouse, select Crop option and “crop” off everything but the results chart! My Top Three Learning Styles - #3

Bodily-Kinesthetic

Bodily-Kinesthetic

Bodily-kinesthetic intelligence is about thinking in movements and includes the ability to use movements for either self-expression or precision to achieve a goal. It is crucial for surgeons, athletes, mimes, choreographers, and directors.

This type of intelligence helps you retain information when it is associated with an activity, such as dance, acting, and sports. Relating what you are trying to learn to one of these activities will help you retain information and gain understanding.

Sample activities:

Perform a skit to show the action of the idea you are trying to learn.

Make a game out of the materials.

Apply what you are learning to hands-on models or in-practice examples.

Stay active when you are in a situation in which you need to concentrate. You can squeeze a stress ball when talking with someone or walk around while reading a book.

Things I do that demonstrate this learning style:

I have bought several houses that needed a great deal of work. I love the physical activity of doing that work. I have replaced cabinets and sinks and repaired and painted many houses. I love yardwork, including cutting down trees, moving bushes, planting grass. I love to run and go crazy if I do not get physical exercise. I will mow the grass just to get out of the house and get exercise.
