Terms and Conditions
1. Your start date will be on Start Date. Your contract with the university expires on End Date. You
shall report directly to Name of Supervisor, Title.
Duties
2. As a Position Title you shall be expected to discharge the duties and responsibilities of the
position as described in the attached job description and as further defined by performance

Rate of Pay
3. The position of JOB TITLE is graded at the C level. It is included as part of the Management &
Confidential (MAC) employee group, band “C” as outlined in the Premium Pay Schedule. Your
annual salary will be $XXX and will be reviewed annually in light of performance and prevailing
Board policy on compensation adjustments applicable to the MAC employee group. Your salary
will be paid on a bi-weekly deferred basis, and your first pay will be available and/or deposited
on First Pay Date. In order for the University to initiate your pay, please log into my.ryerson.ca
(using your Ryerson’s online identity), access the University’s eHR portal, Employee Self
Service (“Payroll and Compensation” section, “Direct Deposit” link) and provide us with your
banking information in order to facilitate direct payroll deposit into your bank account. ESS is a
fast and convenient way for you to access your personal, payroll, and benefits information.
Hours of Work
4. The standard hours of work are 36.25 hours per week. Please confirm specific hours of work
with your supervisor.

Group Benefits
5. Employee benefits are provided to term employees on a pro-rata basis following four (4) months
of continuous employment. More information will be sent to you prior to your four month
benefits eligibility date. For more information, please visit the Human Resources website at

At your four month benefits date, you are required to have provincial health care insurance
(OHIP) in place for you and your family members. If you are not eligible for OHIP you must
enroll in the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP). For more information, please visit the

Vacation
6. Under the existing vacation policy for the MAC employee group, you will receive 4% vacation
pay for the first four months of service. After four months, you will accrue vacation days at one
(1) day per month for each completed month of employment. As per the vacation policy,
employees must take a minimum of 10 days’ vacation leave per year.
(D Level new hires)
In recognition of management responsibilities, members of the “D” band (MAC Group) are
entitled to five (5) days per annum, prorated for the rest of this calendar year. This time must be
used within each calendar year and will not accrue, nor will it be eligible to be commuted to cash
at any time. For more information, please refer to the Vacation Policy.

8. As an employee of Ryerson University, your employment relationship will be governed by the
terms and conditions of this employment contract as well as policies and procedures of the

discretion, and such alterations and amendments shall automatically apply to you.

Conflict of Interest
A conflict of interest occurs when personal interests interfere with the independent judgment

Environmental Health and Safety
The University recognizes that, integral to the attainment of its mandate, is the assurance that
every individual at Ryerson has the right to learn in a healthy and safe environment and in turn, is

Employment Requirements
9. As a condition of employment, you are required to complete the Accessibility for Ontarians with
Disabilities Act (AODA) Customer Service Standard eLearning training within two (2) weeks of
your appointment start date. To access the training modules, you will be required to login to
http://www.ryerson.ca/accessibility/commitment/aoda-eLearning.html using your Ryerson email
user ID and password, which will be provided to you upon commencement of your appointment.
Should you have completed the training in light of a previous appointment at the University you
are not required to redo the training. Please print your certificate and provide a copy to your
manager within two (2) weeks of your appointment start date.
10. As a condition of employment, you are required to complete the Workplace Violence Prevention
and Response eLearning within two (2) weeks of your appointment start date. To access the
modules, visit http://www.ryerson.ca/workplaceviolence and click on eLearning. Log in using
your my.Ryerson user ID and password, which will be provided to you when you begin your
appointment. Please print your certificate and provide a copy to your manager within two (2)
weeks of your appointment start date.
11. You are required to provide an official transcript (original copy in a sealed envelope) of your
post-secondary education as designated in order to meet minimum educational standards of the
position for which you have been hired. Please have the granting institution forward a copy of
your transcript to Human Resources Department no later than six (6) weeks from the date of hire.
12. Upon assuming your responsibilities you will be required to obtain an Employee Photo ID card
from the One Card Office located in Jorgenson Hall, Lower Ground Level – JOR-02. One card
forms can now be found at https://hr.cf.ryerson.ca/onecard or by going to
http://www.ryerson.ca/hr and clicking on forms. The telephone number for the One Card Office is

Notice and Severance
13. While it may be difficult to consider issues relating to termination at the start of your employment
at Ryerson, we believe it is important that you understand our termination policy and agree to
your entitlements upon termination to avoid unnecessary problems in the future. If your
employment with Ryerson is terminated for any reason other than cause, Ryerson will provide
you with payment(s) consistent with the Employment Standards Act provisions.

(If never done add to the above) We would also like to invite you to attend the New Employee
Orientation, the next scheduled date is May 28, 2015 from 9:00am – 4:00pm on the 7th floor of the
Heaslip House located at 297 Victoria Street. The room location is the Peter Bronfman Learning Centre.
At this session, you will have the opportunity to speak to a Pension and Benefits representative, union
representatives and network with other staff members of the University. Please discuss whether attending
this orientation date is operationally feasibly with your manager and register online using the Learning
Events Calendar https://hr.cf.ryerson.ca/training/.
