The team are looking to fill a permanent full time vacancy. You should have some knowledge of public
finances, be enthusiastic and keen to learn new skills. An interest in politics would also be
advantageous.
You should have relevant experience from within local government and be CIPFA qualified. A degree in
a numerate, financial or political discipline would be beneficial, although this is not essential. You will
need to be very comfortable working with figures with good skills in Excel and Word, together with the
ability to work accurately within tight deadlines, managing their own workload with minimal supervision.

Support Services for Education is a newly formed traded unit within Somerset County Council offering a
wide variety of support services for all education providers.
We are looking for 2 Education Welfare Officers to join the busy and hardworking Education Welfare
Service. The successful applicant will undertake a range of duties to ensure that all children attend
their school with regularity and punctuality. You will be expected to provide advice and guidance to
families and schools on the statutory regulations around school attendance and children missing
education.
One post is based in Yeovil and the other in Shepton Mallet. There will be the need to travel throughout

We are seeking someone to join our friendly and hardworking team to cover a project officer post whilst
the current post holder is on maternity leave. You will be highly organised, proactive and able work on
your own initiative, a confident communicator, able to interpret policy and guidance and translate into
action in considerable detail, including producing comprehensive reports and policies.
You will be the main point of contact and the project lead for a national project supporting the
recruitment of trainee social workers across the South West. Effective liaison with the DfE, Local
Authority partners, our partner University and individual trainees is integral to the post. You will also
have significant responsibility for planning, co-ordinating and organising assessment centres for the
selection and recruitment of trainees.
Other work areas involve further supporting the Social Work Academy ‘student unit’ through close
working relationships with our Professional Social Work Educators, ensuring the effective and efficient
tracking and monitoring of social work students on placement, the recruitment of our Open University
social work students and the financial tasks associated with both work streams.
The nature of the work is fast paced, high profile at times and detailed. Regular attendance at regional
meetings is required, as is knowledge of budget monitoring. Strong IT skills in usual office applications
essential.

You will operate digital print equipment and print finishing equipment within the Design & Print
Department. This will include use of both colour and black and white digital photocopying devices and a
wide range of print-finishing machinery including guillotine, folder, collater/stitcher and binders. You will
be responsible for using pre-press RIP software as well as scanning and photocopying to produce
printed materials at a high quality output within agreed timeframes.
You will operate a variety of equipment in the production and delivery of printed materials and ensure
customers receive goods on time. You will carry out adjustments to finished print outputs as required
and perform quality control procedures to ensure work is of consistently high standard. You will clean,
maintain, repair equipment and ensure it is fit for purpose within Health & Safety requirements.
You must have experience of working within a digital print / print finishing environment. Working
knowledge of digital print and print finishing equipment is also essential. An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent
in digital print / print finishing is advantageous.

TRAINEE/PRIVATE SECTOR HOUSING GRANTS AND LOANS OFFICER
£23,855 - £25,896 per annum
We have an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our busy Private Sector Housing Team.
The team delivers a high quality customer orientated service that covers a wide variety of activities
related to the repair, renovation and improvement of the local housing stock.
This post requires an HND in Building Surveying/Building Studies or equivalent and extensive on the
job experience of the domestic building industry. You will be used to surveying and carrying out
inspections to dwellings, advising on improvements and have experience of administering improvement
grant schemes, including financial appraisal. There will also be some involvement in project work, such
as helping to monitor the Council’s Joint Contract with other local authorities and the county wide Home
Improvement Agency and Community Equipment Service Partners.
This is an opportunity for applicants to apply for this post who do not meet all the essential criteria as
training and support will be provided. The starting salary will therefore be dependent on qualifications
and experience.

BULLETIN DEADLINES
