We need to elect two academic Class Reps
We require names, e-mail addresses, and phone
numbers for each elected Class Rep.
Class Professors have documentation for the
elected Reps.
What does your Academic Class
Representative do?






Acts as your primary contact to the ECE department
Represents you at the monthly Class Prof-Class Rep
meetings
Relays all of your feedback (positive/negative) to the
appropriate person.
Closes the information loop – communicates information
from you to the department and from the department to
you
Ensures that course critiques and TA evaluations are
completed, collected and delivered appropriately.
Announces upcoming events, seminars, etc.

The meetings will be held from 4:30 pm – 6:00 pm
in EIT 3142 on the following days:




Thursday, January 18
Thursday, February 8
Thursday, March 1
Thursday, March 22

We are trying to provide better communication and we will utilize the
Class Prof hour to exchange important and useful information.

Work Term Reports – Part I


Work term reports are due tomorrow, January 10th
at the ECE main office by 4:30 p.m.
The ECE main office will remain open during the
lunch hour in order to accommodate your handing
in work reports.

Common errors:

Report must be bound


Sign the Letter of Submittal



You can bind your report at the EngSoc office for a
nominal fee
Address it to: Prof. Catherine Rosenberg
Remember to enter your WTR title on

You ONLY need a title page if the front cover is opaque

Outstanding work reports are eligible for an award

Late reports will be graded in Spring 2007

Failure to submit a report on time results in a failure
(38) appearing on your transcript
Upper-Year Scholarships




An upper year scholarship (UYS) is given to the
number one ranked student in each cohort (no
application process)
The $400 award is given by the Dean’s office
The UYS can only be paid while student is on
academic term

Undergraduate Research Assistantships







Opportunity to participate in engineering research
You work 6 hours per week under the supervision of an
ECE faculty member
Payment is $600 per term
Students with an 80%+ average should consider applying
(student arranges the project directly with the Professor)
Applications are available from the receptionist in the
Dean’s Office (CPH 4301)
Applications are due by Friday January 12th
Other awards will be posted on the bulletin board outside
of the ECE Main Office (3rd floor of EIT)
Undergraduate Student Research Award
(USRA)







Must have 80%+ average
Student is responsible for arranging for a suitable faculty
member to sponsor them (may be from another university)
Requires you to work full-time (non-academic term)
Award is valued at $6,000.00

Application deadline is February 12 for Spring 2007

Sandford Fleming Foundation




The Sanford Fleming Foundation will once again hold a
technical speaker competition, which will be held on Thursday,
February 8th at 11:00 a.m. in DWE 2534.
Any questions about the competition should be addressed to
Professor J. Craig at ext. 37554.
The Sandford Fleming Departmental Program Competition runs
from January 2nd to February 2nd.
