Appendix A – Modes of Delivery
Mode A – Web Supplemented
Online participation is optional for the student. Students can access supplementary unit
information from a unit website. The information provided may include unit descriptions
and study guides (if also available in another format), examination information,
assessment overview, reading lists and other online learning resources.
Mode B – Web Dependent
Online participation for each activity describe in (i), (ii) or (iii) below is a compulsory
requirement of unit participation, although other components are retained.
I. Students must use the Web to interact with the educational content necessary
for study.
II. Students must use the Web to communicate with staff and/or other students.
III. Students must use the Web both to interact with content and to
communicate with staff and/or other students.
To clarify for Open Universities Australia units, Mode B units could also include
some face-to-face components, including field supervision.
Mode C – Fully Online
All interactions with staff and students, educational content, learning activities,
assessment1 and support services are integrated and delivered online.
