Treasurer’s Report - Sen. Turner: Additional homecoming transfer requests, Club alliance had 3 transfer requests – requested and approve on February 13th. - 1 additional transfer to vote on. $45,005.20 for student union facility uniforms have not had new uniforms since 2012 due to wear and tear and discoloring. - Motion to approve $45,005.20 from repair maintenance line to shirt line. Unanimous recommendation from Business Manager, Treasurer, and Chairman Sen. Collin Waychoff. VIII. Guest Speakers - Haley Guerra, Junior/Senior, Political Science Major – Currently the new Attorney General. Discussing Aim Higher event that SG puts on to bring awareness to higher education issues on our campus, beyond UNF and on a state Level (Will be mandatory) on February 26th in Peace Plaza which marks one month until Rally and Tally, which SG provides free transportation to rally in the capital for higher education. Business oriented club, focused on improving economic aspects with projects in the community. Travel fund to go to Ohio to compete in national competition to show projects on how they have changed the - community. Let’s Can Hunger: partnered with Campbell’s soup company and UNF Lend-A-Wing and donated 253 pound. In total collected and donated 10,000 pounds. Empowered: Partnered with Wal-Mart and working with Hubbard House to help support woman and show the professional skills for interviews and how to dress for job interviews. Uncap Opportunities for Women: Partnered with Coca-Cola, helping the local non-profit organization called Rethreaded to help those affected by the sex trade and domestic violence. F.A.M.E: Partnered with Sam’s club Step up Up for Small Business, helping small businesses grow. A Novel Future: Partnered with the McKenzie’s Academic Resource Center, helping children read and get involved. Strive to 25: Promoting healthier lifestyles to UNF community. Costs: 8 students traveling, Airfare is $296 per person; $2,368 for 8 people. Lodging: $248 per night; $581.46 for 2 rooms for 2 nights. Spinnaker Media – Sen. Garrity - Requesting glass doors and side window for spinnaker media, the last department area in the student union with no door in entry way. To avoid noise complaints we would like to secure the area. - Total Cost: $8,036.66 - Motion to make this request from the student union fun balance. - Roll Call Vote. Motion passes 3-0-1 - Motion to approve Spinnaker Media for total cost of $8,036.66. Motion dies. 2-0-3. b. Turbo-Vote – Sen. Waychoff - Full amount $1,772.20 - Help students vote in elections. Helping people get registered, changing addresses/party affiliation, and absentee ballots. - 11,750 students in Florida use Turbo-Vote. - Turbo-Vote is non-partisan. - $1,000 of requested is to make a contract/base fee. Women in Business Society – Sen. Baker - Total Request: $1,300.00 - Anna Valentine: Changed request to $900 after cutting costs and fundraising. - Annual Spring forum. Food: $700, Decorations: $100, Program Guides: $100. Striked Marketing: $200 and Goody Bags: $200. - Planning event since October with 6 sponsors including Target and State Farm. - Motion to strike line item 3 - Marketing and 4 – Goody Bags from cost making total requested $900. Petrosyan - The Public Opinion Research Laboratory - Director: Dr. Bender. - Full amount requested: $8,000 - Advocating for expansion of laboratories and classrooms, advocating for in-state tuition for veterans. - PORL hires student interviewers for $10 an hour (one of the highest paying jobs on campus), flexible hours, generates off-campus revenue by partnering with organizations, consistent jobs for students. XIII. - Shows multiple examples of polls/voting through slideshow. - Over 80% of the grant would be towards the student interviewers. - Multi-state, Statewide, local, intercept surveys, address-based sampling. - Motion to approve the request of the budget for full amount of $8,000. Student Protection and Affordable Travel Act – Sen. Waychoff - Title 8 Bill – Few changes since 1st read in Senate. - SB-14s-2749 – This bill allows each student and their rights to full protection under our laws and equal opportunities that student government provides. - Alleviation of time restraint to call an emergency meeting. Time in advance to notify members of meeting. - Travel fund request may be requested by RSO’s and currently controlled A&S Feepaying students up to 4 times per fiscal year as follows. - Addition of word Travel, to differentiate Travel Request and Special Request – To make more relevant to our needs. - A whole new section under Special Requests to show that all necessary documents are included in packets. - Motion to approve amendments Student Protection and Affordable Travel SB-14s-2749.
