Background
RCR is an increasingly significant component of the
education and training of researchers.
Policies from NIH have added emphasis to the
importance of in-person training.
As a premiere technological university at the cutting
edge of education, research, and innovation, Georgia
Tech is committed to providing leadership in the realm of
ethics and RCR.
RCR training is central to Georgia Tech’s mission to
ensure that students are prepared with the knowledge
and skills necessary to conduct themselves
professionally and with integrity.

date of Fall 2011 or later
Includes students admitted to a master’s
program in Fall 2011 or later who have since
transitioned to a doctoral program

Relevance to Compliance
At this point, the Compliance Policy and the
Academic Policy both apply to certain categories
of doctoral students.
Applicable students must follow the “in-person”
requirement of the Academic Policy (the online
training is the same).
Both policies will likely apply to master’s
students in the future.
