Autumn 2015 Peartree Pride Peartree values Last week and this, we have been focusing on the last of our values AMBITION. The colour orange represents ambition. If your child comes home with an orange sticker, remember to ask them what makes them ambitious. What do they want to be when they grow up and do they have a plan of how they are going to get there? Library update The library is slowly coming together thanks to a dedicated band of local volunteers who spend an afternoon a week categorising and cataloguing books. We now have colourful furniture including beanbags and a dedicated library computer. Next step is to get all the books onto the electronic system – a big job! Contact details Increasingly when we try and contact parents/carers we are finding we no longer have the correct phone number. If you change your contact details, please make sure you let the school office know as soon as possible. It is essential we are able to contact you in the case of an emergency. Governor visit day Last Wednesday we had a very successful governor visit day. Eight governors, including our 2 parent governors, spent the morning at school. They monitored areas such as safeguarding, attendance, finance, early years and SEND. A group conducted a learning walk, whilst another group did a workbook scrutiny. It was a very useful morning and enabled the governors to hold the school to account as well as seeing the school in action. Issue 12 7/12/15 Christmas is coming! The Christmas season is fast upon us. Here are some dates for your diary… Decorations day We had a fantastic day on Friday. The school now looks very festive with all the decorations the children have made. The tree in the hall looks beautiful with our homemade baubles. Thank you for all those volunteers who gave their time to ensure the children had a special day. Christmas post box The post box is located by the door used by the children at the beginning of school. We ask that all Christmas cards are posted in the box and are clearly named with surnames and classes. Year 6 elves will ensure they are all delivered in the last week of term. John Lewis Christmas card competition Hazel class (Year 3) have created a stunning Christmas card, which is displayed in John Lewis café. Please can everyone pay a visit to admire it and vote for Peartree. Panto – Wed 16th Dec Thank you to all those parents/carers who have already made a voluntary contribution. You should have also received a letter (with a permission slip) giving you specific detail about the Panto. Without permission, your child will not be able to go to the Panto.
