Reminders: 1. All Italic words are reminders only. These are instructions on what should be the contents of every category. Read them carefully and follow the instructions. 2. All words that are normal in fonts are sample statements in every category or sub-topic. You can use them as guide in writing your own. But remember that these are only sample statements, therefore, you should not imitate the length but you have to lengthen the statements based on the details that you have to deliver. 3. Statements with no particular formatting and are enclosed with () must be decided which information to write since there will be two sample phrases inside the symbols. 4. All titles must be written in Bold letters similar to the sample. 5. Numbering and text alignment including margins and indentions are already applied in the following statements and pages, so you just have to edit this document to comply with the required format. 6. Font style used in this document is Candara. Font style should by applied based on the following criteria: a. Students under CpE412 Software Engineering, use Cambria Font Style, Size 12. b. Students under IT412 Systems Analysis and Design 2, use Bookman Old Style, Size 12. 7. Chapter 1 is entitled The Problem and its Backgound therefore, this chapter will discuss the source of the problem and how you wanted to solve the problem. However, this chapter should not yet state any concrete solution to the problems such as describing how the software or system is going to act in place of the manual system (THAT IS WRONG). We are still in chapter 1 and we are only DEFINING the problem. 8. As you write the introduction, the sources of information should be listed in the list of notations and the full context should be written in the review of related literature and systems. But remember that you must only write the gist in the introduction. Sub-discussions or expanded explanations must be placed in chapter 2. 9. In writing the List of Notations, follow the following format: a. Books <Author>, <Title of the Book> ©<year> published by <Publisher>, <Publisher’s Country/Address>, ISBN No. <#> b. Magazines or Newpapers <Author>, <Article Title> reviewed from <Magazine or Newpaper Name> Vol. No. <#>, Series No. <#>, published by <Publisher> pages <page where the article was read> c. Thesis/Dissertations <Author>, <Complete Title with Address if any>, <School where the research was presented>, <year>, page/s <page/s where the specific topic was read> d. Web Sources <Author>, <Article Title or Topic Title> © <year>, reviewed from <Website Name> published by <Publisher’s Name if any> updated <date the website or webpage was updated or modified> Website: <complete web address > Note: All words enclosed with <> symbols must be supplied. Words that do not have <> symbols must be copied such as published by or updated or reviewed from and the like. Chapter 1 The Problem and Its Background 1.1. Introduction This is where the project is defined based on existing descriptions. The global point of view or the global setting is also described in this part where the researchers must illustrate how the global market has implemented the proposed project. The national setting or national point of view of the proposed project must also be highlighted where sample agencies or companies must be featured to clearly describe how the proposed project is implemented. Finally, the last paragraph should describe how the client agency/company performs the present operations and why there is a need to propose a project for them? First paragraph must define the project title based on existing descriptions Second paragraph must describe the global point of view or the global setting. Third paragraph must illustrate the national point of view or the global setting. Fourth paragraph must describe how the client agency/company performs its operations and why there is a need to propose a project for them? 1.2. Project Context This portion of the chapter discusses the concepts underlying the feasibility of the project. This portion must answer the following questions in no particular order: 1.3. What is the concern of the project? What activities in the agency to you want to enhance through computerization? Who will be your respondents and who will be benefited and who will be involved in this project? When is the start and finish of the project or how long is the duration of the project? Where is this project conducted and implemented? Why do the researchers propose for this project? How the project development will be conducted? Purpose and Description This part discusses the purpose of developing this project and a description of its purpose. This must elaborate what specific actions will be contributed to the development of the project or what activities in the office will be covered in the project development and why it has to be part of the whole project. This project entitled “Point-of-Sale System for University of La Salette Canteen” is intended to (improve the existing point of sale / develop a computerized point of sale) system to automate the sales activities of University of La Salette Canteen. This project aims to implement a computerized profiling system for the University of La salette College of _____ to lessen the enrollment process where the student has to write every enrollment his/her profile. The automation of such repetitive task is what the researchers wish to resolve through the development of a Profiling System. List the persons who will be benefited and how they will be benefited. The College Secretary. This project aims to determine the feasibility of automated profiling system for the easy collection, storage and retrieval of student information for the help of the secretary. The secretary is therefore an essential participant in the development of the requirements. The Students. This project will aid the students in the issues of repeated activity in writing profile during enrolment. The students will be involved in providing the researchers with their desired process of submitting and updating their profile. 1.4. Objectives General objectives will be stated in this part where the researchers must describe what they wanted to accomplish at the end of this project development. Specific objectives shall be enumerated in such a way that the objectives will become attainable. This capstone project entitled “A Proposed Profiling system for University of La Salette College of Information Technology” aims to develop and implement a computerized profiling system to aid the students and the department in securing, storing and retrieving student profile. Specifically, this capstone project aims to: Determine the feasibility of implementing a computerized profiling system Develop the system requirements or system specifications 1.5. Desing and develop ____system based on the given system requirements and specifications Develop strategies in maintaining the implemented software and system Prove that the proposed system is of great help in the company Scope and Limitations This part presents what particular activity in the agency is the focus of this project. The researchers must therefore state on this part the scope meaning what part of the activities in the office is covered and what is not. The limitations refer to what this project cannot accommodate or what the researchers of this project is not going to deal with. The proposed system and how the proposed system will work should NOT be discussed in this part. Wait until chapter 4 that you have to discuss everything about the system but not now.
