February 3, 2015 Parents, This week all Civics students will be taking the MYA (Civics Mid Year Assessment). This will not count as a grade but as a diagnostic tool to prepare students for the EOC. The Civics EOC exam will be administered to all seventh grade students. This is a mandated exam through the Florida Department of Education/Bureau of K-12 Student Assessment. Beginning with the 2013-14 school year, EOC performance will constitute 30% of the student’s final course grade. The method for applying this requirement will be determined and applied by the school district. It is imperative that you encourage your child to prepare for this exam. We will be reviewing sample tests in class. Please make sure your child is studying at home. In addition students should be reviewing Words of the Day and the list of tested benchmarks included with most assignments. I have listed several websites that can help your child prepare for the Civics EOC. Please take the time to review the information included in these sites. You will find: o sample tests o sample test questions o sample test questions with answers explanations and accompanying benchmarks o vocabulary and concept review cards. http://www2.leon.k12.fl.us/sites/civics/Pacing%20GuideLesson%20Plans/Unit.%20Test%20Preparation %20and%20Review/textbook%20EOC%20review.pdf http://ecsd-fl.schoolloop.com/C11 Florida Virtual http://www.flvs.net/myFLVS/studytools/EOC/Documents/MJ%20Civics%20EOC%20Practice%20Test.pdf Florida Virtual w. answers http://www.flvs.net/myFLVS/studytools/EOC/Documents/MJ%20Civics%20EOC%20Practice%20Test%20Answers.pdf Vocabulary and Concept review http://quizlet.com/40927401/civics-eoc-vocab-and-concepts-review-flash-cards/ Vocabulary and Concept review (Benchmark SS.7.C.4.3) http://quizlet.com/34538866/civics-c43-flash-cards/ J.
