Our Region
Turkey is a country which is located between Asia and
Europe continents.It is a pennisula which is seperated
into seven different areas. Each has its own
characteristic people,history,landscape even cuisine and
with so many offers to visitors.

Our Environment

Ankara is the capital of Turkey.Istanbul is
a very important city like Ankara. We live
in Istanbul.It is the most crowded city of
Turkey. You can find different cultures, a
lot of historical places, universities,
entertainments, natural beauties and of
course different life styles.

The city always has a great geopolitical
importance.It is the only metropoli in the
world which is located at two
continents.Because there are two bridges.
They go from Asian side to European
side.One of them is called Bosphorus
Bridge the other is Fatih Sultan Mehmet
Bridge.

İstanbul was the capital city of five
different cultures and three different
religions.The city was chosen European
capital of Culture for 2010.In Turkey some
people live in big cities,some live in towns
or villages.The conditions of life styles
change according to live. Of course you
can have much opportunities if you live in
Istanbul.

The wedding ceremony:
There are many different kinds of wedding
ceremonies in Turkey.The forms of
ceremonies depend on the social and
economic status of couples and their
families.In the villages the wedding
ceremonies take two days.

Henna Night:
It is a special day that just the girls who
aren’t married come together.It is held the
day before the wedding ceremony.They
sing,dance and they try to make the bride
cry.No men can join this ceremony.

Festivals:
In our country we have two religional festivals
and five national festivals.During the religional
festivals,young people always visit old
people,they kiss their hands and get some
pocket money or presents.On the national
festivals,people celebrate these days at schools,
in the streets and in the cultural centers.

Cuisine:
Turkish people enjoy eating.They prefer meat
,bread and kinds of pastry.

Turkish cuisine also
means Turkis coffe or
Turkis tea.
At the brealfast and
at 5 o’clock in the
afternoon most
people drink tea.After
meals they like
drinking Turkis coffe.

People’s choices may vary depending on
where they live or how old they
are.Turkish folk music is usually preferred
in the villages but in big cities every kind
of music is listened.

Turkish national sports
which is performed by
men with oil.

wooden sticks.They try to fall each other down
by throwing the sticks.
