Berkeley Preparatory School seeks a committed, optimistic, kind and respectful professional
with a passion for relationship building, social justice, curriculum design and creative thinking to
serve as Assistant Director of the Berkeley Academy. The Berkeley Academy will open its doors
in the summer of 2016 dedicated to the mission of providing a supportive, enriching and
academically rigorous college preparatory environment for highly motivated, low-income
students in our Tampa Bay community. Through Saturday and summer programming, the
Berkeley Academy will ensure that students have the preparation, skills and knowledge
necessary to succeed in college and beyond.
The Assistant Director of the Berkeley Academy will report to the Director of the Berkeley
Academy and the relevant division director. His or Her responsibilities include, but are not
limited to:










Monitoring the development and implementation of all Berkeley Academy curriculum
and teacher training programs.
Collecting and analyzing data from the Berkeley Academy and providing feedback to
various stakeholders regarding school climate and curriculum effectiveness.
Creating and leading teacher training programming for high school and college students.
Teaming with the director of the program to create, implement and manage all Saturday
and summer programming for the Berkeley Academy.
Working with the director of the program to develop and lead a two-week, teacher
training orientation and ongoing professional development workshops.
Providing curriculum support for Berkeley Academy instructional coaches.
Enforcing and enhancing Berkeley Academy’s policies and procedures.
Coordinating and overseeing a variety of programming logistics including scheduling,
course allocation and transportation for the Berkeley Academy.
Tracking student attendance for the Berkeley Academy.
Aiding the director in working with students, faculty and community partners to develop
mutually beneficial service learning partnerships.


Assisting the director with the school’s service initiatives including, but not limited to,
Upper Division Service Council, family service days, grade-level service days, school-wide
service projects, community service records, etc.
Teaching part-time at Berkeley Preparatory School (subject based on expertise) during
the academic year.
Located on a gorgeous 80-acre campus, Berkeley serves 1300 students in Grades PK-12. The
school continues to experience strong interest and full enrollment, and is marked with a very
strong positive school culture. Berkeley’s faculty, staff and student body reflects the diversity of
its surrounding communities.
