Santa Claus is a make believe jolly old man, with a white beard, a kind wife, many helper elves, flying reindeer, and gifts galore for all nice children around the world, while munching on cookies and milk. Parents of use Santa as threat for their kids because if Santa sees they have been naughty, then they don’t get gifts, but coal. This made-up man is however the center of many Christmas traditions worldwide. You may plan on telling your kids about Santa, but some people are now saying not to. My opinion is to share to joy and Christmas cheer and continue the legend of the great Santa Claus for a few reasons.

First, we all know Santa is imaginary, but that could be a good thing. Telling your kids about Santa Claus is one of the first things they believe in, that they can’t actually see. Sure, there are tons of Santa printed holiday decorations, and you can go see “Santa” at the mall, but as they start to get a little older they will know that the “mall Santa” is not the real deal. Having a good imagination can help kids get far in life. It can make their writing flourish, there are spectacular, and their ideas beyond amazing. Some people think we should keep Santa to help our kids imaginations grow.

Next, certain people could argue that Santa should stay for the sake of fun and Christmas spirit. After all, Santa is half the fun of Christmas. It would seem that to some people, it can be harder to join the Christmas spirit without Santa, seeing as he is Father Christmas. No more

Santa shaped chocolates, no Santa mugs, no Santa pajamas, and no Santa bedtime stories. That could take a lot away from the Christmas spirit of some. Many parents enjoy seeing their child smile in Santa’s lap. Most parents love the overjoyed expression on a kid’s face when he sees all the presents he got from Santa and that the reindeers ate the food you left them. Santa is a fun and magical experience for kids that should not be taken away.

On the other hand, some people would completely disagree with that. Many people would say that Santa is a useless legend, that he serves no purpose, or that it only cause kids distress when they find they have been lied to. They might say Santa serves no real purpose in a child’s life because he’s only a legend and doesn’t play a major part in the Christmas routines.

Also, they could argue that when the secret comes out, your child may feel hurt or betrayed because they have been lied to. It is quite possible that the child will miss this part of his

Christmas beliefs. One last point is that Santa sets a bad role model. Parents might resent the fact that they all Santa eats as he travels the world is his cookies and milk. It could be said that this is an unhealthy life style and shouldn’t be gloated about in front of kids. These are all very good points.

At the end of the day, some people would encourage you to embrace Santa for the jolly, loving, old man that he is. This could be encouraged by saying that it inspires imagination in kids to believe in something this great, or that Santa is a big part of many Christmas traditions and the

Christmas spirit. However, others may believe that Santa is a very bad example and only creates trouble for the parent when a child finds out Santa isn’t really real. However, masses of people believe that Santa should definitely be, kept, honored, and part of the holiday celebrations just as usual.
