Learn how to describe your skills and talents and create a resume that tells prospective employers what you have to offer. Introduction to Basic Sign Language: Presented by Deb Harguth Participants will be learning how to communicate effectively using body language, gestures, simple signs and the alphabet. These signs cans be used in everyday life situations and help improve communication. We will uncover our most basic prejudices and common mistakes. Exercises bring participants through the ABC’s of understanding choices and making decisions. This is a effective tool for showing staff and professionals how to share power. Come learn how to set goals, make decisions and work through conflict. You VS the Bully: Presented by Amber Carter & Karli Harguth Want to learn how to handle a situation when you’re getting bullied? Come to this workshop and see what you can do if you are put in a bully situation. We will be role playing to get a feel of what would happen in an exact or similar situation. We will also be showing you a video and sharing information that you can take home and put to good use. So come and learn what you can do and how you can teach others how to prevent bullying. Self-Advocates Savin’ Lives: Presented by Cheryl Gardner-Ghionzoli, Dawn Helgeson, & Tammy Flicek Learn how to recognize and respond to an emergency situation and some basic skills to help save a life. Proud of Who We Are: Presented by Karen Larson Let's celebrate who we are and where we are going. In this fun workshop, we'll start by watching the bold, inyour-face documentary, Disability Culture Rap. Afterward, we'll have a lot to talk about: our own dreams, our own ideas of disability, the power of language, and the growing culture of resisting oppression. You are guaranteed to leave this workshop with a full dose of pride and power.
