The Marketing Behind NASCAR A good paint scheme may not register at the forefront of everyone’s thoughts when they see a race car, but a wellexecuted paint scheme does register subliminally. Visual stimulation impacts people more than they realize. A great paint scheme can be a team’s stealth weapon for attracting attention. Colors, logos, accents, and outlines affect the perception of a race team and its sponsor. Seriously, would people want to watch a field of white cars with generic black letters? Would Dale Earnhardt have been as intimidating in a pink and yellow car? Design your own NASCAR Sprint Cup car a) Designate a major sponsor (design on hood and prominently on sides/back of car) - Do not choose a sponsor that is currently involved with NASCAR (here’s a list to help you, http://espn.go.com/racing/drivers). You must use the correct logo, trademark, and colors of a sponsor. For instance, you would not include the golden arches for McDonald’s and draw the name in red, white, and blue. Draw it using colors and be creative! b) Choose a number for your car, and design the number in a creative style font. c) Designate two other sponsors. (These names are usually located on the back or side of the car in smaller letters.) d) Use high quality graphics and drawings as much as possible e) Be creative f) Use correct grammar/spelling on all slides and be professional g) On the back of your poster, write a description that details why you chose the sponsor, color scheme, number, etc. Description Points Available Major Sponsor with logo, trademark and colors 25 Two additional sponsors, with logo, trademark and colors 25 High Quality Graphics 25 Creativity & Effort 25 SAMPLE POSTER VIEW Points Awarded
