Geometry Picture Project
Your assignment is to explore and take pictures of geometric shapes and concepts around you. You will then compile
your pictures into a presentation of your choice. These must be actual photographs.
Take a picture of the following geometrical shapes. Some photos may contain more than one shape or concept. After
print your pictures, or on the presentation program of your choice, outline the shape or concept in black or other
contrasting color so that it can be easily be seen.
I do not want you to take any pictures at or in your house, or at the local park. Try to do this when you are out and
about with your parents when doing errands or on your way to some event, setting, or friends house.
Please load and label all of your pictures onto your website in a gallery file on your Math page.
Angles - Right, obtuse, acute, vertical, adjacent
Lines - parallel, intersecting, perpendicular
Two-dimensional shapes – equilateral triangle, Isosceles triangle, scalene triangle, quadrilateral, rhombus, trapezoid,
pentagon, hexagon, octagon, oval, square, parallelogram, circle
Solid Shapes – sphere, cube, rectangular prism pyramid
Extra credit can be earned for any of the shapes created by nature. An example of this would be a honeycomb.
While out and about with your parents or friends, take a camera and take pictures. My cameral can be checked out for
one day at a time. There should be no excuses for not doing this. Due date is 10/27
Rubric---each correct photograph that is correctly identified, outlined, and labeled is worth 5 points. Extra credit for
natural shapes is 5 point per picture.
25 points for presentation. In your presentation you will share what the shape is and where you took the picture.
Geometry Picture Project Rubric
25 pts _____Angles - Right, obtuse, acute, vertical, adjacent
15pts _____Lines - parallel, intersecting, perpendicular
