the culture of one group through influence
of another group
In general, there are four options for how
multiple cultures can interact when they
come into contact with each other.
Segregation
is a total separation of the
two cultures. Limited or no
interaction, cooperation.
Cultures remain intact but
very separate.
Annihilation

is where a less dominant
culture is destroyed by a
more dominant one
Accommodation

is where both cultures are
modified slightly in order to
support, cooperate, and live
peacefully. Differences are
celebrated, but mutual
cooperation is the goal.
Assimilation
Assimilation is the process by
which individuals from one (less
dominant) cultural group are
absorbed into a dominant
group.

 The term "assimilation" describes a change in
individual or group identity that results from
continuous social interaction between members
of two groups such that members of one group
(often a minority culture group) enter into and
become a part of a second group (often a
majority culture group). In this process of
assimilation, the minority group or culture may
disappear by losing its members to the larger and
more dominant cultural group.
