Brief: Brand Refresh 2015
Background
Curious Minds is the lead agency for cultural and creative education in the North West of
England. As part of a national network of 10 Bridge organisations, we are funded by Arts
Council England to use our experience and expertise to connect children and young people,
schools and communities with great arts and culture.
Our strapline is ‘enabling creative collaboration’ and we realise this through the delivery of
significant programmes of work designed to bridge the worlds of education and culture.
The last few years has seen a lot of change for Curious Minds and, as the organisation embarks
on another exciting new phase in its development, we think the time is right to refresh our brand
identity.
The Brief
We love our existing brand so don’t want to lose it, but we do need help to ensure it reaches its
creative potential:
1. To undertake a logo and stationery refresh so that they more accurately reflect Curious
Minds purpose and personality – considering our usage of sub-brands; e.g. SLiCE,
Trailblaze and Culture Hubs.
2. Spring-clean the Curious Minds styling and usage policy.
3. Provide some new ideas about how the brand could be developed; e.g. how it can be
brought alive through our publications and website; and how we should make best use of
our sub-brands, including Trailblaze, SLiCE and Culture Hubs.
4. Provide templates for letters, compliment slips, presentations and e-newsletter.
5. Provide design ideas for signage at our new head office base in Preston’s Guild Hall.
Budget and Timeframe
The brand refresh exercise should be completed by Monday 21st September 2015. The available
budget is up to £2,500 inclusive of VAT.
N.B. A separate brief to develop our new website has also been issued and we are willing to
accept a proposal to work to develop both projects jointly.

Submission Process
Interested Agencies should submit expressions of interest outlining how they would approach the
project to include the following:

a budget for each component of the brief

details of their track record

client testimonials

portfolio of examples which clearly demonstrates their expertise

a short critique of the Curious Minds brand as it is currently used
We do not want any creative development as part of your submission. A creative brief will be
discussed on appointment.
Deadline
Please submit your application by noon, Monday 24th August, to
sarah.bailey@curiousminds.org.uk and we will contact all candidates as soon as possible after
that date.
We will consider all applications and reserve the right to conduct informal telephone/in-person
interviews if needed. We hope to engage promptly.
