Teacher Web Sites – CMS4Schools (Administrator of GHS Web site) Resources – Prepared by Sally Kowalczyk Updated 9/5/11 All exisiting ClassZoom faculty Web sites will transition to CMS4Schools (www.germantownschools.org) on Friday, September 16. At that time, teacher Web site links (accessible from the Department navigation link on the GHS home page) set up through ClassZoom will no longer be accessible through the GHS site. If you want to transition away from ClassZoom sooner, please e-mail Sally Kowalczyk. (New) Faculty Web Sites All teaching staff have their own faculty Web site that initially contains one page containing data from your “Personal Profile”—which currently has your Name and e-mail address. You can see your actual page by adding your login name after “/faculty/”. For example, Sally Kowalczyk’s is: http://www.germantownschools.org/faculty/skowalczyk While you can view your site from the “/faculty/” link, you must be logged in to make changes. Logging In (You may want to save the link as a http://www.germantownschools.org/faculty favorite on your browser.) Your login/password is the same as the Staff Intranet. Structure of a Page When you look at a page, it appears to be seamless; however, it actually is built in layers of ‘tools’. The most common tools you will use in the main body of your site are: Text/Graphic Editor Resources/News The Right Side Bar has fewer options, but includes similar tools. The main body can have various tools/layers, as can the right side bar—similar to the following diagram: Main Body [tool] R-Side Bar [tool] [tool] [tool] [tool] [tool] Editing your Home Page; Adding Pages Changes to your site, including adding pages, is primarily be done through the “My Navigation Builder Home” link on the left side bar. Recommendation: Please access additional resources listed at the bottom of page 2 prior to making changes to your site; they will help you better understand what you can do with the site and how to do it. Initially it will only show “My Home Page” as a Level 1 link. Level 1 links are the main navigation links that appear on the left side bar. You can add Level 1, 2, or 3 links (pages) as needed.
