1. How can you use descriptive language to indicate value?
2. To what extent does the intended audience affect a persuasive essay/speech?
Enduring Understandings
1. When you describe a person, place, thing you are not only giving information you are also
making a value judgment.
2. Students will be able to write adjective clauses and be able to identify if it is an essential or
non-essential clause.
3. Students will use a thesaurus, digital and/or physical, to better vary word choice.
4. When persuading someone, your arguments/claims and how you present them should be
dependent on the audience and the occasion.
5. Students will know how to appeal to ethos, logos, and pathos when making a persuasive
argument.
6. Students will know how to use adverbial clauses to describe how, when, or why an action
occurred.
