Accessing the DPS 9-12 English Wiki
1. Click on the following link to access the DPS 9-12 English Wikihttps://dps912english.wikispaces.com/
2. Click on the Crossing the Bridge- CCSS Training page (in the list of pages on the

3. Find the list of Crosswalk documents by grade level. Click on your grade level
document to open it up. This document contains the crosswalks for all 5 English
strands. This is the document you and your PLC will based the rest of your work
on. You can make your notes in the comments section.
1st
As a PLC spend a few minutes discussing EVERY identified gap/difference. Use
the comment column of the document to make your own notes during this
discussion. There are many, so don’t spend more than a couple of minutes on
each one.
***TIP*** The ones you spend more time on in this discussion may be the ones
your PLC decides to use for step 2.
2nd
As a PLC, choose the 5 gaps/differences that you feel are the most important for
your PLC to address.
For each of these 5 gaps/differences, answer the following questions as a PLC:
1. Do I already address this identified gap/difference in my classroom? If
so, how deeply?
2. How will this change my unit/lesson planning?
3. How will this change my daily formative assessment practices?
4. What resources do I already have/use to help me address this
gap/difference?
5. What resources/support do I need to help me address this
gap/difference?
6. Before you leave today, find one new resource (online, human, other)
to add to your arsenal for teaching this gap/difference in your
classrooms.
Type your answers right into the comments column of the crosswalk document,
so you have the notes, ideas and links saved right in the document.
3rd
Before you leave today, your PLC leader will email me their saved copy of the
crosswalk document with the answers to the questions above for your 5 identified
gaps/differences.

Crossing the Bridge Day 3 HOMEWORK
Visit the Common Core Curriculum Maps/ Unit Plans at
http://commoncore.org/free/index.php/maps/.
DPI has endorsed these units as a good starting place for districts around the state
to use in developing local curriculum resources. DPS is using these units as just
that, a starting place.
Tasks:
1. Carefully read the units for your grade level.
2. Generate a list of at least 5 best practices you see in the units. For each of
these 5 items explain how you use something similar in your classroom or
have seen used successfully in a classroom.
3. Generate a list of 5 questions or concerns you have about the sequencing,
pacing, materials, tasks, assessments, etc. that you see in the units. For
each of these 5 items, explain the nature of your concerns and one
idea/resource that may help you address your concern.
4. Complete the survey at the link below by 2:30pm on March 10th.
