The Passiveness of those in the Word 3:7
The Personal effects of the Word 3:14-17
The Preaching of the Word 4:2-3
The Passion for the Word 4:13
(2Ti 2:14-16) Of these things put them
in remembrance, charging them
before the Lord that they strive not
about words to no profit, but to the
subverting of the hearers. Study to
shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth. But shun profane and vain
babblings: for they will increase unto
more ungodliness.

A. The Severity of not
know the Word
(2Pe 2:6) And turning the cities of
Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes
condemned them with an
overthrow, making them an
ensample unto those that after
should live ungodly;
(2Pe 2:1) But there were false prophets also
among the people, even as there shall be
false teachers among you, who privily shall
bring in damnable heresies, even denying
the Lord that bought them, and bring upon
themselves swift destruction.
(2Pe 3:16) As also in all his epistles,
speaking in them of these things; in which
are some things hard to be understood,
which they that are unlearned and
unstable wrest, as they do also the other
scriptures, unto their own destruction.

B. The Subtilty of Satan
to those that don’t know
the Word
(2Co 11:1-4) Would to God ye could bear with me a
little in my folly: and indeed bear with me. For I am
jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have
espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as
a chaste virgin to Christ. But I fear, lest by any means,
as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so
your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that
is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another
Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive
another spirit, which ye have not received, or
another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might
well bear with him.
(2Co 11:13-15) For such are false apostles,
deceitful workers, transforming themselves
into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for
Satan himself is transformed into an angel of
light. Therefore it is no great thing if his
ministers also be transformed as the ministers
of righteousness; whose end shall be
according to their works.

II. The Consummate effort of them in the
Word
(2Ti 2:14-16) Of these things put them
in remembrance, charging them
before the Lord that they strive not
about words to no profit, but to the
subverting of the hearers. Study to
shew thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be
ashamed, rightly dividing the word of
truth. But shun profane and vain
babblings: for they will increase unto
more ungodliness.
(1Ti 5:17) Let the elders that rule
well be counted worthy of double
honour, especially they who labour
in the word and doctrine.
(1Co 15:58) Therefore, my beloved
brethren, be ye stedfast,
unmoveable, always abounding in
the work of the Lord, forasmuch as
ye know that your labour is not in
vain in the Lord.
(Mat 9:37) Then saith he unto his disciples,
The harvest truly is plenteous, but the
labourers are few;
(Mat 9:38) Pray ye therefore the Lord of the
harvest, that he will send forth labourers into
his harvest.
(Act 17:11) These were more noble
than those in Thessalonica, in that
they received the word with all
readiness of mind, and searched
the scriptures daily, whether those
things were so.

III. The Craftsmanship of those in the Word
(2Ti 2:14-16) Of these things put them
in remembrance, charging them
before the Lord that they strive not

IV. The Constraining of those not in the
Word
(2Ti 2:14-16) Of these things put them
in remembrance, charging them
before the Lord that they strive not
about words to no profit, but to the
subverting of the hearers. Study to
shew thyself approved unto God, a

(Tit 1:9-11) Holding fast the faithful word as
he hath been taught, that he may be able by
sound doctrine both to exhort and to
convince the gainsayers. For there are many
unruly and vain talkers and deceivers,
specially they of the circumcision: Whose
mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole
houses, teaching things which they ought not,
for filthy lucre's sake.
(Rom 16:17) Now I beseech you,
brethren, mark them which cause
divisions and offences contrary to
the doctrine which ye have learned;
and avoid them.
(Eph 4:11-14) And he gave some, apostles; and some,
prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors
and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the
work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of
Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of
the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man,
unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to
and fro, and carried about with every wind of
doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning
craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
