How to deposit your paper and give permission to make it available on open access:
please note you
are granting your permission not your publisher’s.
This guide takes you through the uploading process step by step.
STEP 1 Save your own version.
For every published journal article or conference proceeding
Keep the final, peer-reviewed, accepted manuscript. This is the version that most
publishers allow you to deposit.
TIP Remember to keep a copy of the final accepted version every time a paper is
accepted for publication. N. B. This is NOT the published version, or any of the
publisher’s proofs.
For every other type of publication
Keep a copy of your paper, preferably your own version.
STEP 2 Go to the SRI Publications database
Directly http://symplectic.surrey.ac.uk
Via Remote Access https://remote.surrey.ac.uk
Enter you usual username and password when prompted. You may be presented
with a pop-up asking that you install Juniper networks. If this is the case select
install.
Once on the remote access screen you will see the option Publications
Database (Symplectic) listed.
Via the Research Webpage http://www.surrey.ac.uk/research/publications/
Via the email alerts that are sent automatically
STEP 3 Log-in with your University username and password
You will then be directed to your home
screen.
STEP 4 Go to your approved
publications, by clicking on
My Publications.
STEP 5 Find the paper you would like to deposit
TIP: you can sort all publications alphabetically or by date
STEP 6 Click on the Full Text tab and then Click on “Manage full
text”
If you have already uploaded a file for this paper, an active link to the item in SRI
Open
Access will be visible here.
TIP:There is no limit on the number or size of file/s that can be uploaded
STEP 7 Click “Choose File” to find your file, then click upload.
Once an item has been successfully uploaded the file name will appear above
Publisher Policy.
STEP 8 Click on the ‘Grant’ button.
This means that you are happy with depositing the paper in SRI Open Access.
Please
note that the paper first goes to the back-end of SRI Open Access. It will only be
made
public if the publisher ‘s copyright policy allows. The SRI team will check publishers’
permissions for you and advise you if the paper cannot be posted.
