What does the Careers Employability
Award contain?
About the Award
•

•
You complete a number of quizzes and
three short assignments;
Assignments have clear learning
outcomes;
It can all be done on line: students have
done it in their year abroad (e.g. in Spain
and Sweden) and during their industrial
placement year;
Campus parity: same at Canterbury,
Medway, and partner colleges;
May be suited to some students with
disabilities.
Based on the DOTS Model of Career Planning
Self Awareness: analysing your skills, interests, values,
personality and strengths;
Opportunity Awareness: commercial awareness,
researching a career, happiness at work, networking;
Decision Making: choosing a career, Prospects Planner;
Taking Action: CVs, covering letters, application forms,
interviews, aptitude tests, selection centres, action planning.
•Careers Website is “Random Access”: access in any order.
•Careers Award is Sequential: structured, logical, learning
pathway.
