This course is part of the Human Resource Management Emphasis for BBA, and it will contribute to
the emphasis by providing the opportunity to apply general and comprehensive human resource
management knowledge.

Students need a working knowledge of BBA335, which is an introductory HR course covering basic functions
and tasks of human resource management. This course is intended to be taken toward the end of the program
to apply knowledge gained from the different courses. Having Senior Status will allow students to have working
knowledge of most courses in the program and in the Human Resource Management Emphasis.

Prerequisites: BBA 335 and Senior Status
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Independent study course to develop a Human Resources Project while working
under general direction of a faculty mentor. The Project will display the application of concepts learned and
interrelationship of HR disciplines. Letter Grade.
STUDENT LEARNING EXPECTATIONS/COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
 Develop an HRM Project that applies learned HRM concepts and shows the interrelationship of HR
disciplines.
 Apply ethical practices and concepts regarding performance metrics and organizational development
methods.

an internal consultant, workforce changes, and change management

8. Organizational development and organizational effectiveness

COURSE STRUCTURE/APPROACH: course may be offered in person, online, or blended format.
Instruction may be presented with PowerPoint, lectures, class discussions, cases, simulations, class exercises,
and other classroom tools.

EVALUATION TOOLS
Evaluations of student performance will be conducted by the means of assessment. The means of assessment
may consist of class discussions, answers to discussion questions, quizzes, cases, simulations, written projects
and reports, and exams.

Assignments submitted as a requirement for some other class may not be submitted for an assignment in
this BBA class. All assignments must be original work of the student or properly referenced and must be
specific work for this class.

All work is to be submitted in the appropriate professional style and format. Standard oral and written
English is always used in the NAU classroom.
•
All assignments must be turned in on the due dates specified in the syllabus. Late work may be accepted
at the discretion of the instructor and may include a 10% penalty deduction per week. All assignments need to
be submitted by the last day of class.
•
Students are responsible for making sure they have assignments and handouts and turn in assignments on
time.
•
Attendance and participation in the classroom are required according to the course format and as stated by
the instructor.
•
Students are expected to notify the instructor if they will be absent from the class for more than one week.
