About the Seminar
BRICS group of emerging economies with abundant natural resources, large domestic markets and
a high degree of potential development is likely to form a powerful bloc in the global economy.
Already BRICS account for the fifth of the world’s economic output and 40 percent of its
population. According to one estimate if things go right in less than 40 years the BRICS economies
together could be larger than the G6 in the US $ terms and by 2025 they could account for half of
the size of G6.
The establishment of the New Development Bank (NDB) of the BRICS on 21st July 2015 in
Shanghai is a landmark in the history of international finance. In fact NDB with growing
partnership among BRICS reflect a powerful move towards new global economic order and
monetary system.
This emerging phenomenon in the global financial system has attracted the attention of both
academicians and practicing professionals in financial sector. The discussion in the academic circle
and financial sector is centered round interalia issues such as:
Non-West power v/s west colonial power?
Establishment of new development bank of BRICS complementary or substitute to the existing
global financial system?
Setting up of NDB and its impact on liquidity crunches in the region?.
To address these questions the national seminar on BRICS group of Emerging Economies:
Implications for Global Economic and Financial System is organised to provide forum for detailed
discussion scheduled on October 17th, 2015.
CALL FOR PAPERS
Research papers are invited from Industry Practitioners, Academicians, Research Scholars,
Consultants and Students on the following Sub-Themes related to BRICS.
The following themes have been selected for research oriented technical papers and for detailed
discussion.
1.Implications of growth of BRICS group of emerging economies on economic power of west in
particular and on global economy.
2Impact of establishment of NDB on international financial and monetary systems.
In this connection we are approaching you with a request to ask your faculty, research personnel to prepare
a technical paper on any one of the topics mentioned above.
