How do I get Credit?
• Each course has an Internal Assessment (teacher
graded assignment) and External Assessment
(end of course exam)
• IB combines your scores on both to give you a
class score between 1 and 7
• TOK and EE scores combine for between 1 and 3
points total
• A perfect Diploma equals 45 points (6 classes x 7
points + 3 points for Core)
• To earn a Diploma you need a total of 24 points
Benefits
• A Diploma score of 30 or higher earns you 30
quarter units (20 semester units) at all UC’s
• Exclusive universities are 2 times more likely
to accept a Diploma students application than
a non-Diploma student
• CAS projects can result in scholarships, large
and small
Course Students
• You can take some of the Diploma courses,
without taking them all
• You enroll in the classes you want
• You take all the assessments for that class
• You stick it out for 2 years
• UC gives 8 quarter units for every HL class
passed with a 5 or higher
