This project plus the in-class, on-demand essay will make up your summative grade for The Odyssey. Your project should show obvious care, effort, and creativity. Choose One: (or come up with your own idea – pending teacher approval!) Learning Type/ Strength Project Options Take one of the episodes and make it into a children’s book (illustrate it too!) Remember, keep the violent stuff to a minimum in a picture book. Verbal / Linguistic Write another adventure Odysseus and his crew might have had. The plot must be original. Include at least one god/goddess and make sure it addresses Odysseus’ heroic qualities. Create a 60 Second version of an episode and film it. Remember that costumes, props, and set are all important details! Logical / Mathematical Create an original board game to challenge players to successfully survive the journey Odysseus took from Troy to Ithaca. Include instructions, game pieces, and question cards. Choose one of the episodes and create a comic book version of it. Make it accurate with details from the story and hand-drawn pictures. Visual/Spatial Kinesthetic Create a scrapbook of Odysseus’ journeys. Use both pictures and words to create a book of memories from his trip. Be creative and include standard decorations. Construct a model, sculpture, or diorama of a character or scene from the story. Include details from the poem and a short description of your character/scene on an index card. Create puppets and a puppet show script to dramatize one of the episodes. Musical / Rhythmic Naturalist Create a soundtrack for The Odyssey. Include at least 10 songs and incorporate the song title and artist, how the song reflects an idea or theme in the story, and why you chose it. Use a popular TV show theme song and change the lyrics to reflect one of Odysseus’ adventures. Create a travel brochure/guide for Odysseus’ journey. Include details from the poem, illustrations, and creative interpretations of the places to make it sound like a place someone would like to visit.
