Slide No. 16 Copyright © 2011 TNB Research Promotion Program To Ensure Usage of Malaysian Standards - Activities to Promote Malaysian Standards within TNBR No Approach Action Taken 4 Performance Measures In driving commitment to all levels, quality related performance measures (KPI) are assigned to the relevant staff. •Management Representatives (MS ISO 9001:2008, MS ISO/IEC 17025, MS ISO/IEC 17020) - Sustaining overall accreditation and certification •Lab Managers – MS ISO /IEC 17025 – Sustaining existing test accreditation and obtaining new test accreditation •Internal Quality Auditors - A dedicated KPI weightage (e.g. 10%) were assigned to the IQA for all standards. 5 TNBR Information Resource Center • A dedicated place was designed and maintain to function as a mini library of TNBR • All purchased standards are properly kept in the center for easy reference. • This center will also be responsible to update the organization on any new released related standards 6 TNBR Yearly Operating System • Quality related events (e.g. Internal Quality Audits, Management Review, Process Review) are scheduled in TNBR Corporate Calendar called TYOS – TNBR Yearly Operating System. • This is part of creating awareness to staff and commitment to implementing the various activities as planned (instead of ad-hoc basis). • TYOS was designed based on the key element of MS ISO 9001:2008 and reflecting the P-D-C-A cycle on annual basis Slide No. 17 Copyright © 2011 TNB Research Promotion Program To Ensure Usage of Malaysian Standards - Activities to Promote Malaysian Standards Beyond TNBR No Approach 1 Greater Adoption of R&D Findings 2 Inculcate Best Practice 3 4 Action Taken Example: Power Quality project Results used to establish PQ standards for Malaysia Example: Transformer Oil Lab Being the leading laboratory and having the expertise in the transformer and transformer oil, TNBR took leadership role to introduce best practices for industry on insulation oil for electrical equipment Uphold TNB Specification • TNB Specification consists of element from various standards • Indirectly vendors and manufacturers have to improve their design and manufacturing capability to ensure they meet such specification. • TNBR Quality Assurance (QA) activities through its Product Certification, Quality Audit and Product Inspection assisted vendors and manufacturers in highlighting areas need improvement. Lead By Example TNBR led by example in getting its processes certified or accredited to MS ISO 9001:2008, MS ISO/IEC 17025 and MS ISO/IEC 17020. By having well defined and documented procedure we achieve consistency in our services . 2. Quality is constantly ( monthly) measured through KPI’s. 3. Corrective action and Preventive measure is taken whenever defects occur or when Non Conformance ( NCR) is raised during an audit. 4. Process are regularly reviewed and improvements initiated even before defects in our services occur. 5. Documented procedures helps new employees to understand their responsibilities and work processes. 6. Gains confidence from customers and stakeholders from the various certification program. 7.
