Welcome to Corporate Financial Accounting (Acct 101)!!!

Online Teaching.
Course Description:
Fundamentals of financial accounting relating to corporations. Application
of widely used accounting theory and practice for both service and
merchandise enterprises. Preparation and analysis of financial statements.
This course may also be offered online. Transfer Credit CSU; UC
Student Learning Outcomes:
1.Demonstrate knowledge of an accounting cycle by performing appropriate
accounting functions.
2. Demonstrate ability to prepare financial statements for a corporation.
3. Prepare accounting entries required for a service versus merchandising
business.
4. Identify ethical issues in financial accounting.
5. Demonstrate knowledge of financial reporting rules and disclosure, including
international standards, such as International Financial Reporting Standards
(IFRS).

This section of Accounting 101 will be offered online with TWO PROCTORED EXAMS GIVEN ON
CAMPUS (you will need to schedule 80 minutes to take them in Math/Business/Computing
Center {Mar. 14 (Ch. 1-4) and May 2 (Ch. 5 - 8) between 5 – 10 pm } AND THREE ONLINE (you
will need to schedule 80 minutes to take them on either Friday, Saturday, or Sunday -- each of
3 weekends –Feb. 19 - 21; Apr. 8 - 10; May 20 -22), available from 9 am Friday – 11:55 pm,
Sunday.

The class is paced with a chapter per week being covered. The week begins Monday at 12:30
am and goes until Sunday evening, 11:55 pm.

In addition to assigned and graded MAL work, Students will be EXPECTED to participate in
discussion activities, working together to enhance understanding. The instructor will provide
guidance.


Homework and Due dates can be found under “Start Here”, Accounting Syllabus, in
Blackboard (once class is opened for the semester).
Make sure to enter the class by the first TUESDAY of the semester and Introduce Yourself.
Those not having done so, may be dropped and your seat given to a petitioning student.
