Cloud Psychology Jamie received her B.A. in psychology from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, and she has just completed her Ph.D., with an emphasis on individual differences and evolutionary psychology, at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research has focused on predictors of female attractiveness and the navigation of social hierarchies. Carolyn P. Garrity Marketing Carolyn earned her B.B.A. in marketing and management from the University of Cincinnati and her M.B.A. in marketing and non-profit management from American University. She is completing her Ph.D. in marketing at Louisiana State University. Carolyn’s research interests are varied, and include entrepreneurialism and innovation. Mary Pritchett Harrison Marketing Mary earned a B.S.B.A. in business administration from Mississippi College, an M.B.A. from the University of Alabama, and the Ph.D. in marketing also from the University of Alabama. Her research interests focus on the consumer-retailer relationship. Mary joins us in a tenure-track appointment after serving as visiting professor of marketing this past year. William G. Holt, III Urban Environmental Studies Bill received a B.A. in geography from the University of Georgia and an M.C.P. in city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He then earned a J.D. from the Vermont School of Law and the Ph.D. from Yale University--a dual degree with Yale and Vermont law school in environmental law concentrating on energy policy and sociology. He is the editor of a forthcoming book, Urban Areas and Global Climate Change, and the author of Monumental Changes: Debating Urban Images, Landscapes, and Collective Memory in the Post-Civil Rights American South, under final review with University of North Carolina Press. Anita Huang Chinese Anita earned a B.A. in German literature from the Chinese Cultural University in Taipei, Taiwan. She completed a Masters Studies in English Literature from the University of Alabama, an M.A. in linguistics from Eastern Michigan University, and the Ph.D. in linguistics from the University of Texas at Austin. Anita joins us in a tenure-track appointment after having taught Chinese at BSC for academic years 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. Rick A. Lester Management Rick received a B.S. in economics and management from the University of North Alabama, an M.A. in human resource management from the University of Alabama, and the Ph.D. in business administration from the University of Mississippi. He most recently served as the Dean of Academic Affairs at LIM College in New York City, after teaching at the University of North Alabama, the University of Alabama at Huntsville, and Livingston University (now the University of West Alabama). 6 Guangjun Qu Economics Qu earned his B.A. and M.A. from Chongqing Technology and Business University in China. After coming to the United States, he earned the Ph.D. from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He has spent the past two years teaching at DePauw University. His research interests include open economy macroeconomics, growth and economic development, international economics, Asian economics, and applied statistics/econometrics. Richard Rector Psychology Richard holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia, and an M.A. and Ph.D. in developmental psychology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. His ongoing research deals with the long-term effects of exposure to in-utero infection and exposure to PCBs on children’s health and neurodevelopment. After teaching at BSC as an adjunct professor since fall of 2007 and as visiting professor since fall of 2009, Richard joins us in a tenure-track appointment in the psychology department. Zachary Simmons Psychology Zach earned a B.S. in biochemistry and a B.A. in history and psychology from Case Western Reserve University. He is completing his Ph.D. in developmental and evolutionary psychology, with an emphasis on college and university teaching and quantitative methods, from the University of California Santa Barbara. Zach joins the faculty for a one-year appointment. Maria Stadnik Mathematics Maria received a B.S in mathematics and a B.A. in Spanish from Youngstown State University. She earned an M.S. in mathematics from Purdue University, and she recently completed her Ph.D. from Northwestern University. While at Northwestern, she received the Outstanding Graduate Student Award for the Weinberg College of Arts and Sciences. Her research interests are algebraic and analytic number theory and commutative algebra. William A. Walsh Economics Will earned a B.A. in English and economics from Vanderbilt University, and a J.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. While in law school, he was the Senior Editor of the Alabama Law Review. He has been teaching most recently as a visiting professor at Samford University.
