Multiple-Choice Exam:
Multiple-Choice Exam will consist of questions related to the above vocabulary words; writing extended definitions for the above vocabulary will prepare the student for the exam; all multiple-choice questions will relate to the required reading.
Essay Preparation:
Directions: Students will prepare to write a short essay answering each of the following questions; on the day of the test, two of the questions will be chosen randomly to be answered. Each chosen question will be answered on a separate sheet of notebook paper, in pen. Credit for each answer will be awarded based on: depth of knowledge; completeness of answer; and quality of presentation. Each answer will receive a separate grade.
1. Describe the different types of interest groups and the intent of each type; explain how technology changed the methods used by interest groups.
2. Evaluate interest groups using the pluralist and elitist models
3. Describe the tactics, both direct and indirect, that interest groups use to influence policy; compare the effectiveness of each method.
4. Describe the problems associated with the campaign finance system in the United States. What are the difficulties associated with attempting to fix the system.
