CALL FOR PAPERS
The Faculty of Theology within Emanuel University of Oradea, in collaboration with Emanuel
University Press and the “Ethics and Society” Research Centre organizes the Annual
International Conference, which this year focuses on the Reformation in Eastern Europe.
Conference name
The Unheard Voices. The Reformation in Eastern Europe
Conference purpose
The purpose of the conference is to present the latest research on people, places and events that
are neither well known to the general public, nor featured or debated in the mainstream books or
conferences on the Reformation, but which had a local impact on the emergence and
development of the Reformation in Eastern Europe, in the fields of religion, politics, social life,
culture, and economics.
The conference aims to give a voice, at least to some of the people and events that shaped
Eastern Europe throughout the Reformation, and who influenced the ideological development of
Europe since that time up to the present day. The main question is: who are the people and which
are the events that mattered, but no one knows about?

no 87, 410597, Oradea, Romania. Please refer to the link bellow for an exact pinpoint location:
http://www.emanuel.ro/despre-ueo/locatie-si-directii/
If you arrive in Oradea by plane the closest international airport is at Debrecen in Hungary, but
the biggest is at Budapest, Hungary. If you let us know ahead of time whether you come by plane
we could pick you up at either of the two airports.
If you come by car Emanuel University is easy to find because it is located next to the Selgros
Supermarket, towards Cluj-Napoca. The easiest route is to drive on the belt road, that goes
around the city.
If you arrive by train, you can either chose a taxi service, or the 3N tram.
Once on campus the plenary papers session will take place at the University Chapel, and the
workshops in the main building. The staff and the students involved will be trained in order to
answer any of your question, guide you to whatever location you need, and offer any kind of
information regarding the conference and the directions throughout the city. On the third day of
the conference, those of you who are interested will be taken on short trips to various tourist
attractions nearby Oradea. This service will be provided by the university.
