CALL FOR PAPERS The Faculty of Theology within Emanuel University of Oradea, in collaboration with Emanuel University Press and the “Ethics and Society” Research Centre organizes the Annual International Conference, which this year focuses on the Reformation in Eastern Europe. Conference name The Unheard Voices. The Reformation in Eastern Europe Conference purpose The purpose of the conference is to present the latest research on people, places and events that are neither well known to the general public, nor featured or debated in the mainstream books or conferences on the Reformation, but which had a local impact on the emergence and development of the Reformation in Eastern Europe, in the fields of religion, politics, social life, culture, and economics. The conference aims to give a voice, at least to some of the people and events that shaped Eastern Europe throughout the Reformation, and who influenced the ideological development of Europe since that time up to the present day. The main question is: who are the people and which are the events that mattered, but no one knows about? Topics: church history, Eastern European history, Reformation, church and state politics, religion Event dates September 1, 2014 – Abstract submission October 15, 2014 – Full manuscript submission November 12-14 , 2014 – Conference date Nov. 12 – registration (once on campus the students and staff will offer you directions) Nov. 13 – plenary papers, followed by the workshops (9 am – 5 pm) Nov. 14 – short trips to various tourist attractions (transportation provided by Emanuel University) For the authors The language of the conference is English. The abstract of the paper must have at most 400 words, followed by 5 (five) key words, and a short autobiography of the author, containing the name, date of birth, institutional affiliation, academic degrees and an e-mail address. The papers must have between 5000 and 8000 words. The best articles will be included in a special issue of Perichoresis, the theological journal of Emanuel University, which is published by Emanuel University Press in conjunction with Walter de Gruyter (in the Open Access system: http://www.degruyter.com/view/j/perc). The publication of the papers does not depend on participation, but only on the acceptance by the editorial board. The proceedings of the conference will be published by the Emanuel University Press. If you let us know ahead of time whether you come by plane we could pick you up at either of the two airports. If you come by car Emanuel University is easy to find because it is located next to the Selgros Supermarket, towards Cluj-Napoca. The easiest route is to drive on the belt road, that goes around the city. If you arrive by train, you can either chose a taxi service, or the 3N tram. Once on campus the plenary papers session will take place at the University Chapel, and the workshops in the main building. The staff and the students involved will be trained in order to answer any of your question, guide you to whatever location you need, and offer any kind of information regarding the conference and the directions throughout the city. On the third day of the conference, those of you who are interested will be taken on short trips to various tourist attractions nearby Oradea. This service will be provided by the university.
