While
the Battle of Britain was going on so
were battles in the Mediterranean and
Northern Africa.
War on Two Fronts
 The
immediate goals of the Italians were to
capture oil-rich Middle East and the Suez Canal.
 They also invaded Greece to secure invasion of
Egypt.

Germans
and Italians forced the British out
of Greece.
Luftwaffe launched attack on Crete, Greece
with gliders, paratroops and coordinated
fighter and bomber attacks.

Luftwaffe now launched from Crete to
support German troops in North Africa
Germany occupied all of south and
southeastern Europe.

Germans also blockaded the British Isles
through a combined submarine and Luftwaffe
effort.
