To accurately translate Black Library product from English into German in the relevant format and in accordance with project deadlines.
Duties
1. Translation
- Translate from English to German any publications to be released in German by Black Library (novels, novellas, short stories, art books, any publication to contain German text).
- Translate as required (e.g. promotional text, book blurbs, catalogues, cover jacket text, correspondence, reviews, etc), from English to German and vice versa.
- Read through original material for both printed and digital product and rewrite into the target language ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained at all times.
- Proofread, edit and correct translated text.
- Provide audio translation and interpretation when required.
2. Production
- Maintain German master dictionaries of Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000 names and terms, in compliance with established terminology.
- Identify and resolve conflicts related to the meaning of words, concepts and practices.
- Use the appropriate software for presentation and delivery, specifically InDesign for layout and graphic design.
- Update and maintain existing files.
- Assist with the checking and sign off procedure.

- Prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
- Communicate with the Editorial, Sales & Marketing and Operations teams regularly in regards to project details and deadlines, ensuring they are kept up to date with any changes to the schedule and/or content.
- Confer with the Editorial team to ensure that translations retain the content, meaning and feeling of the original material.
3. Support German language product
- Maintain web presence to support Black Library, including writing small amounts of copy (e.g.
Facebook, blogs, etc).
- Assist in production of German White Dwarf support, as required.
- Assist in archiving of German product.
- Assist with checking German eBooks, as required.
4. Other duties
- Understand and uphold Games Workshop’s business ethos and behaviour.
- Attend events as required.
- Keep abreast of Games Workshop releases.
- Actively seek understanding of what our hobbyists want and strive to deliver it at all times.
- Any other tasks as required.
