I Know My Savior Lives

The goal of this program is for each child to have an opportunity to bare
testimony that they know their Savior lives. This is accomplished either through
song or a speaking part. Each speaking part is intended to be shared by an older
child in their own words, if possible, and then end by baring their testimony
(including I know) on that topic. We prayerfully chose children who we know
demonstrate a testimony in that area. You will notice that there are very few
individual parts, but as stated in the Sharing Time outline, “It is not necessary to
give each child a scripted speaking part. Effective presentations involve the
children in a variety of ways.” There are several songs, including past songs,
which can give other children a chance to bare testimony through song. We plan
to have standing microphones on both sides of the choir seats so that musical
groups may have a chance to shine. If you would like more involvement of your
little ones you could have a couple of them come up with the older child doing
each speaking part and say the theme with them and then sit down.
We discussed the addition of the extra songs with our chorister to ensure she had
enough time to teach them. Some songs, you will see, are sung by the senior
primary, only because they already know the song. Some songs will need to be
rehearsed outside of primary, for example the small group numbers. But, of
course, you may omit or change any of this to fit your Primary’s needs.
The spirit has been very strong in Primary this year as we learn of our Savior and
His life and sacrifice. We only hope that these sweet children’s testimonies will
invite the Spirit to teach others of Him.
Primary Program 2015
“I Know My Savior Lives”
Opening Hymn- I Believe in Christ (Congregation)
Opening Prayer- (Child 1) The handbook states that any baptized member may say the prayer in Sacrament Meeting. Our
Bishopric asked us to do this.
We believe in God the Eternal Father and in His Son, Jesus Christ: In Malachi 2:10 it reads, “Have we
not all one father? Hath not one God created us?” God is the Father of our spirits. That means we are
all part of one big family—God’s family. Families are so important to our Heavenly Father that he sent
us to earth to live in families. In The Family: A Proclamation to the World, it states, “Happiness in Family
Life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.” I know
that I am a child of God, and that it is in our family that we begin to learn of Him and of our Savior Jesus
Christ. (Child 2)
Sing: The Family is of God (Verse 1: All Verse 2: Senior Boys Verse 3: Senior Girls Verse 4: All)
Jesus Christ Is My Savior and Redeemer: One day, James was walking down a road and fell into a deep
hole. He tried and tried to get out on his own, but he could not. He began to call for help just as a kind
man was walking on the same road. He heard James crying for help and lowered a ladder down into the
hole. James was saved! When we do wrong or sin, it is like falling into a deep hole we cannot get out of
by ourselves. In John 3:16 it reads, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. I know that Jesus Christ
can help and save us so that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father again. (Child 3)
Sing: He Sent His Son (Teachers ask questions, Children answer)
God Speaks through Prophets: In Luke 1:70 it reads, “He spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which
have been since the world began.” In the scriptures we learn of many great prophets, Moses, Nephi,
Alma the Younger, Isaiah, and John the Baptist to name a few. We learn of the prophet Joseph Smith
and the restoration and we hear the words of our prophet today, Thomas S. Monson. I know that
prophets are called by God and that they testify of Jesus Christ. (Child 4)
Sing: Follow the Prophet (Verse 1: Sunbeams Verse 2: CTR 4 Verse 3: CTR 5 Verse 4: CTR 6
Verse 5: CTR 7 Verse 6: Val 8 Verse 7: Val 9 Verse 8: Val 10-11 Verse 9: All) Chorus sung after each two or
three verses.
Jesus Christ Restored the Fullness of the Gospel through Joseph Smith: Joseph Smith was struggling
with the question of what church he should join, so he went to the scriptures for an answer. Joseph
read in the Bible, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God”. After reading this scripture, Joseph
was impressed to go to the woods and pray. Soon after he began to pray, Joseph saw a pillar of light
over his head. Heavenly Father pointed to Jesus Christ and said, “This is My beloved Son, hear Him”. I
know that because young Joseph had Faith, the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored. I am honored and
excited to belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. (Child 5)
Sing: The Church of Jesus Christ (All Primary)
Principles and Ordinances of the Gospel Lead Me to Jesus Christ: “We believe that the first principles
and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third,
Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy
Ghost”. (Child 6)
Sing: Faith (CTR 5, CTR 6, Any extra children who have not been assigned to do other things)
Because of Jesus Christ, When I do something wrong I can repent, which means I stop sinning and turn
to God. Repentance includes feeling sorry, asking for forgiveness, righting the wrong and not repeating
the wrong. I know that because of Jesus Christ I can repent and return to live with my Heavenly Father.
(Child 6)
Sing: Help Me , Dear Father (Quartet with parts S/A: or small group)
When I was baptized I made a covenant with God. A covenant is a two-way promise between us and
God. When I was baptized I promised God that I would take upon me the name of Jesus Christ and
always remember Him, and keep His commandments. I know that if I do these things, I will have his
Spirit to be with me and I can return to live with Him again. Those are God’s promises to me. (Child 7)
8yr. old
Sing: When Jesus Christ Was Baptized (Verse 1: All Verse 2: CTR 7)
The Holy Ghost Testifies of the Truth of All Things: Moroni 10:5 reads, “By the power of the Holy Ghost
ye may know the truth of all things”. (Share the feeling you get when the Holy Ghost testifies to you)
(Child 8) Possibly a CTR 7 or any child in your primary who is close to the spirit
Sing: The Holy Ghost (All)
I Can Follow Jesus Christ’s Example: Jesus Christ always obeyed Heavenly Father. He went about doing
his Father’s will, even with his dying breath, when he said, “Not my will, but thine be done”. He went
about doing good as he blessed the children, healed the blind and sick, raised a young girl from the
dead, and fed 5,000. He set an example of goodness, mercy, compassion, tenderness and love. I know
that Jesus Christ is the only perfect example for us to follow. Each day I strive to do what He would do
and say what He would say. (Child 9)
Sing: If the Savior Stood Beside Me (Senior Primary)
I Obey Jesus Christ Because I Love Him: I show my Savior that I love him when I keep his
commandments. In John 14:15 it reads, “If ye love me, keep my commandments”. My love for Jesus
Christ grows when I pray in His name to the Father and study the scriptures. I love Jesus Christ and
know that He loves me. (Child 10)
Sing: Seek the Lord Early (All)
The Mission of the Church Is to Invite All to Come unto Christ: In Moroni 10:32 it reads, “Yea, come
unto Christ, and be perfected in him”. To come unto Christ means to have faith in Him, to keep His
commandments, to make covenants, and to repent when we make mistakes. I know that by doing
these things I am becoming closer to Christ and setting a good example. My example and love for Jesus
Christ will invite others to come unto Him. (Child 11)
Sing: Come Follow Me (Verse 1 only: All)
When We Serve Others, We Serve God: In Mosiah 2:17 it reads, “When ye are in the service of your
fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God”. Jesus taught how to serve others when he told the
story of the Good Samaritan. He taught that our neighbor can be anyone in need. I know that Jesus
Christ loves everyone and wants us to serve each other with that same love. (Child 12)
Sing: I’m Trying to Be like Jesus (Verse 1: Sunbeam A, CTR 4B Verse 2: Sunbeam B, CTR 4A Chorus: All)
I Know That My Redeemer Lives: Share your testimony of the Savior. At the end of your testimony lead
the whole primary in saying, “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this
is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives!” (Child 13)
Sing: I Know That My Savior Loves Me (All)
Closing Remarks: Bishop
Closing Hymn- I Know That My Redeemer Lives (Congregation and Primary)
Closing Prayer: (Child 14)
